So I luv the Bak bed covers (have had them on my last 3 trucks) but on the third go around I decided to purchase the Bakbox 2 along with it. In hindsight I wish i would have researched it on the forums before I purchased it and found out about all its issues. So the box has fallen twice since I've had it and is currently sitting on my garage floor. Has anyone found a good solution to keep this thing mounted? I only carry a 3 ton jack, jumper cables, tie down straps and a small air compressor in the box and with normal street driving the box falls.

Could it be the jack shifting around causing it to drop?

Pretty sure the jack is too much. I don't think the weight rating is very high. @morrie @TruckMods.com

Straight from their site:

Because of the materials used to make the BakBox, it can support a load capacity of 400lbs. This means that it can hold a lot more than just your tool set. It can be used for numerous different things, in fact it's even been seen being used as a cooler for drinks. Simply throw some ice and drinks in it and you're ready to go.

I put everything in there so that the jack is in the center with everything else is on both sides to keep the jack centered.

I also have a smaller version of this:

I wonder if that bar is spreading it just enough to cause an issue. Have you tried running without the bar?

Brought the bar after the first fall because the jack was all the way to one side when I found it and suspected it shifted just as you did.

Loosen ALL THE BOLTS, set it in the bed hanging on the rails, keeping it on the rails NOW TIGHTEN THE BOLTS. I've had mine almost a year and it's never fallen.
