Just ordered my Roll-X from Morrie. Service for the order and delivery was awesome. I told Morrie when I needed it and he got it to me early. Excellent service!

After I got it installed, I started wondering about the security of it. I got it because in the past I've had soft covers and anyone could just cut into it, of course. I decided to spend more than I have in the past and get a secure cover this time. Watch this video, it is rather shocking and now I don't feel secure at all. I really like it overall and definitely want to keep it just gotta figure out a way to make it more secure.

Thanks for showing us this huge fault. Glad I have been waiting to order one to get the XT model. However, if the new model has this same issue then I will not be ordering a Roll-X at all. No point if there is no security.

Morrie was quick and watched the video then immediately called me! He suggested moving the latch over but I explained that it doesn't matter because I am using the screwdriver to push down on the cable to unlatch it. I made two suggestions and going to try a few things.

I am very impressed that Morrie called me and was concerned and is going to show the video to BAK so they can come up with a solution. Its rare that a company actually listens to their customers and wants to fix issues. So far I am still glad I got it, just gotta secure it better.

Blow off, how?
There is a note on the website to avoid extremely windy conditions but I was thinking something like a tornado. Yeah, I avoid those. :)

Gsteve: As most FRF members know, I specialize in Bak's covers and try to know as much as anybody who works at the Factory. I have personally sold in excess of 1,000 RollX's. While there are issues from time to time, I guarantee you that had the RollX been blowing off of any trucks, I would have heard about it. With all due respect I would love to speak with any one of your 3 friends who have had a RollX blow off of their truck. I will personally handle any or all of their cases...if they really exist. My belief is that you are just trying to have some fun on April Fools Day, or you are just a fool period.:ROFLJest:

I added a switch to the underside of mine that is connected to my alarm. You can pop it up, but the alarm will go off. I have thought about a simple tie down loop in the middle of the cover & attach it to the bed with a strap, but I am afraid the thief would just tear the cover up trying to get it open anyway. Air horns make them think twice!

Ok, I have a temporary solution to the issue. With the cover it comes with about 6 hard plastic strips with adhesive that are 6.5" long. When I was installing it I called BAK support to ask what those are for and told on the F-150 it wasn't needed but they are used to help square up the rails. I didn't need them.

I used these to make a guard so something like a screwdriver or stick couldn't reach the pull cord. I laid one uncut piece and then cut 1.25" pieces (4 for each side) and put it under to help reinforce it from giving. There is a little lip on the opposite side that helps hold it snug. I am going to the hardware store and getting some black self tapping screws to make sure it doesn't come off.

I am also considering a chain to secure it to the bed tie downs. I tried again with a screwdriver and was NOT able to pull down on the pull cord. So this FREE mod will make your Roll-X more secure. Enjoy!

Installed my Roll-X last week. I don't have anywhere close to the flex shown in the video. Not even with the tailgate open... With it closed I have a VERY snug fit between the tailgate and the seal on the cover. You would have to pry the crap out of the cover and through the seal to get to the release cord. If your cover does this maybe slide it back towards the tailgate a little bit to get a better seal?

Maybe you have a newer model, my release mechanism isn't plastic like yours... Which is weird because we both just got it...

What release mechanism are you referring to?
