Would this cause the electric fans to turn on immediately after start up on a cold 6.2L engine? Any thoughts/advice on troubleshooting? TIA!

Possibly; what does the temperature gauge read when it's running?

Figured it out yesterday...Few days ago I unplugged the transmission electrical connector in order to repair the leaky trans bulkhead sleeve. On the end of the trans connector plug, there are 12 female receptacles that correspond to the 12 male trans pins. Somehow 1 of those female receptacles got pushed in, thereby not making contact with the corresponding male pin when I plugged it in. This caused the fans to kick on immediately when I started truck (guess the truck thought trans was overheating) and a code. Was able to seat the female end so when plug was reconnected again everything was good, no fans, no code and trans shifted well.

Glad you got it figured out!
