I purchased this lightbar from Amazon for myself as a Christmas present from my wife. It took me awhile to get around to the install due to other time commitments but it went off without major hiccups.

The bar itself can be found here. The stock mounting hardware will not work for a behind the grille application! I had some leftover curtain rod brackets so I went to work with my Dremel and cut a small bracket to make these fit with the stock mounting hardware.

I used the AUX 1 upfitter with no real wiring issues other than it sucks ass wiring the AUX leads behind the glovebox. I used 10ga wire for both the power and ground side. I grounded the light at a ground point adjacent to the battery. I wrapped everything in wire loom and routed to minimize visual signature.

I will put some pictures up tonight but here are my impressions with road usage.

1. At close range: light is as bright on objects as high-beams but has much wider dispersion
2. At long range: light will not throw as far as high-beams but floods the area quite a bit more. This is apparent on dark or dimly-lit two-lane roads with trees. The high beams reach is quite a bit farther but the lightbar will illuminate everything on the side of the road and as high as tree tops.
3. If you accidentally leave it on the sheriff will take notice.

I think with properly fitted mounts the light output could be improved by dropped the bar an inch to get it below the Ford logo but I'm not sure.

Again, feel free to chime in with questions or comments. I'll try to get pictures up later.

Cheers

Pics up -- I wasn't able to accurately capture the difference in light output in my neighborhood so I'll have to wait until I have time to visit some darker areas.

If you order the Rigid mounts for the 40" behind the grille, it will lower the light enough to not be behind the Ford lettering. You can get them off Amazon.

They are like $40 bucks though for 2 little pieces of metal so if you're handy you can make your own brackets

I don't know if a 42" can go any lower?
