Anyone use one of these? Specifically the N type? That nipple looks like it would be perfect; drop the access panel in the skid plate, push on a tube, open the value and you're golden.

Any experience or thoughts on this? Seems like a good investment.

(This is the correct valve for the 5.4L, even thought the site says its for a Hyundai; follow their application guide and you'll end up here) http://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=F106N

I installed them on our fleet of big rigs when I was the shop foreman... they were very reliable and we had very few leak problems with them. One thing I didn't like was they don't allow the pan to drain as fully as removing the drain plug... not that big a deal when you're draining GALLONS of oil but I didn't like the idea with my personal vehicles.

And actually the drain plug on the Raptor is fully exposed at the rear of the oil pan. No access panels or anything to remove to get to it. (the skid plate access panel is for the oil filter.)

Ah gotcha. Guess who hasn't done an oil change yet

So in your opinion Mark, there's no need on the Raptor?

They are nice and with a hose on the hose fitting there's no splash... but if I had one I would still remove it every time to let the pan drain as fully as possible.

But other than reducing that splash you usually get when removing the drain plug... and it is nice to just flip a little lever... it's not really necessary on the Raptor.
