I took a shot "installing" these front window deflectors on my Rapator this morning, & just gave up after about a dozen tries on the driver's side concerned I may damage the weatherstripping & I managed to make a nice scratch in the lower rubber/plastic molding on top of the door anyhow.
For the life of me I COULD NOT get the upper right corner to seat properly. Simply would not happen. The only way the window could go up is if I pushed out ward on that upper right corner w/ my finger & then it's pressing out in that section of the weatherstripping too much IMO - at least it looked that way. It is in mid/upper 40's today so I decided to bring the deflectors indoors let em warm up some & also cranked up the electric heat in my garage (not fully insulated but usually raises temp up to 10-15 degrees when running) & give it another shot this afternoon.....may be better to wait until a 70+ degree day in the sun.
As it is a few pieces of the deflector top right corner snapped & broke off.
That being said, I DID have that chintzy "TSB" performed for the door latches freezing & I know they mentioned adding some additional insulation or weatherstripping someplace - I wonder if that could be interfering w/ the install?
Anyone running these in front w/ that TSB having been done? From what I can see/feel it doesn't seem like anything is different in the front windows, the rears do seem like they have some additional material stuffed in especially the bottom right sections of those rear SCREW windows.
I'm annoyed to say the least, every time you make an attempt @ installing these things it stretches out the weatherstripping & its really easy to scratch the cheap ass material Ford uses. One of my biggest gripe coming from GM vehicles is the ****** window moldings/weatherstripping/window surrounds/sunroof surrounds/gaskets. TERRIBLE quality in comparison. GM/Ram trucks shit most modern vehicles (certainly ones w/ pricetags north of $45k) - have polished stainless/aluminum window trim construction w/ liberal use of that higher quality "felt backed" hevay duty rubber weatherstripping. There's no need for additional metal clips for the deflectors to rest on w/ those vehicles since the surrounds wont get gouged up instantly like on the Ford trucks.
