Why not get the gen3 since that will not be too far off? Getting a 19 over 17/18 is trivial, but the gen3 will be enough different that many will want that instead.
This is the only logical answer! In fact I would wait for Gen4, just to be safe.

What a *******.

The ability to display all the engine values and set up (2) additional analog-appearing gauges is unique to the 2019, correct? That alone is worth the price of admission on a 2019 IMO

If I keep waiting for the next generation, i'll never get it. :(
I haven't heard anything about when a gen3 will be coming. Could be several years. For me, the 18 was the right choice because 19 SCAB no longer offers a moonroof or orange accent interior. Moonroof is a must have and a SCREW is too difficult to fit in my garage. I don't care about the shocks and don't really like the blue interior on the 19.

It just all depends on the buyer. To some it’s worth it. To others its not. I looked into 19’s prior to grabbing my 18’ and to me, it wasn’t worth the mark up for the 19’s. Im not a crazy hardcore off-reader. While I have fun in the truck, and I doubt I’ll take my brand new $78k truck rock crawling in some crazy places. Also, I drove a 19’ and while you can tell the difference in the live suspension, again to me it just wasn’t worth the addition $20k mark up I found in SoCal. I love my 18’ 802a. No regrets and happy in my choice.

Do yourself a favor and drive both. I am genuinely shocked at how much better the 19 drives and it just feels tighter all around. Then work your best price on both and decide if it’s worth the delta. Real deals are popping up on 19s so it may not be that much difference. Especially if you are willing to order one and wait. Just my opinion.

The 7.3 engine discussion is intriguing - that will be nice to have in the next version. Being a superduty engine, it will be nice for a raptor.
