So my truck fits in the garage with a couple inches at best over the roof. My metal radio antenna catches when going in or out and whips and twangs! Yeah, I said it.

Anyway, I can't be the first person to deal with this... What options are available? I've read in here that some of the stubby antennas don't work great and that cutting off an indiscriminate length will jack up the wavelength or something.

I don't listen to mp3 often and do about 25% satellite so I'd like to keep the quality of the hd radio stations.

Thanks in advance!

Ideas?

No problems here with a stubby. It's nice not hearing a loud wack when backing into the garage everytime.

there is a shitload of info regarding antenna height that i had to learn and understand. it was part of some of my training courses when i was a noob installer. without completely understanding all of it, you are just going for a crap shoot if you try to just go for it.

Craven Stubby here too. After about the 3rd time backing in the garage and thinking I hit something, I ordered the Craven. Reception is about 80% what it was but well worth it.

Ordered a Craven last night. My stock antenna screwed right off without a problem. Read some of the other threads. Some folks are having a hard time getting the stock off cuz the factory over-tightened it. just be gentle trying to get it off. If it doesn't want to turn with some reasonable fraction of a foot lb. I'd spray some sort liquid wrench on it.

I also like the look of the stubby and pretty much only listen to Sirius.

Stubby antenna works great for me. I do mostly listen to Sirius now. I WAS listening to local radio for a while though and never noticed a difference.
