so talked with the dealer...planning a visit next week. I too am getting the excessive heat in my driver's side pad...looks to be nearly identical in location to the video that BIGJ posted and stinking bad just like GIFFORDT noted. Although mine has the beautiful aroma of burning leather and dyes and foam. And yes my remote start seat heating is working (turning it to OFF so I don't get greeted by the stench anymore when I go to climb in).

Anyway, was doing some reading online and came across this article. Thought I'd share...we certainly are not alone it would seem:

Car Seat Heater Burns Push Auto Industry to Take Appropriate Action

I'll try to get pics and update as I deal with this issue. Not excited that it sounds like the replacements are on back order. Good news is I bought myself a new toy/tool...a Raytec IR gun.

Thanks everyone for sharing your past experiences with this...makes me feel all warm and fuzzy that I'm part of a group.:sad72::sad72:

I'm starting to get a hot spot under my right leg. Just started about 2 weeks ago.

Update! Went in and it literally started to burn the seat... So badly that it started to melt the bottom leather portion of the seat! So now I'm stuck with a rental and they have to order a whole new bottom part of the seat... I hope it matches and it'll be nice to have a brand new bottom part in my already 3 year old seat :)

Is this under warranty?

Indeed but I have an extended 6 year 60k mile warranty I got when bought used well worth it imo

I also have the warranty 7 year 100,000 mile, but I thought this would not be included in the extended warranty. I thought it would be over at the 36,000 mile mark. Hmmmm if that's the case this baby is going in.
