Another oil leak.....

I don't understand Raptor owners who don't change their own oil.

Sorry but that's a pretty dumb statement....Yea I'm sure most Raptor owners change their own oil....rolleyes...really

My neighbor owns a shop....he takes my truck, does the oil, and brings it back.....very easy for me....

Multiple reasons for me. I'm a contract pilot, work 4 hours from home (i.e. my tools) easier to let Ford do it. Drop it off, walk down the street to the gym, workout, return and its done. Plus, in general I'm not as flexible as I once was. I can still bend, just hurts more these days.

I'm 63 and I change my own oil. Always have.

There is more benefit to doing your own oil changes than just the fresh lubricant. Being under your own truck enables the owner to inspect for rust, loose fasteners, fluid leaks, frayed wiring, abraded brake lines, and other potential trouble items. It is also a golden opportunity to learn your vehicle from the bottom up. Same thing with tire rotations - you put your own eyeballs on brake disks, pads, calipers, brake lines, CV joint boots, shocks, etc.

I made my comment to encourage discussion and to encourage the direct involvement of the owner in his uber truck. Raptors are not Honda Accords, they are the closest thing to a supervehicle that has ever come off a factory production line. The direct care and involvement of the owner is therefore indicated. This bears due consideration.

Rest easy in the knowledge that Jenny is one of the most meticulously maintained raptors on this forum. Glad to hear you change all your own oil. I used to, just reached a point that its not that important for me to do myself anymore. And as far as supercars go, pretty sure that the Lambo and Ferrari owners hit the dealerships on the regular. Not every single one of them, but most. Between changing oil and flying 4 helicopters, laying underneath my truck ranks pretty low in sub 30 temperatures.

i think his point is since you arent the one doing the work. its almost impossible for you to guarantee your statement since you arent the one doing the work and personally inspecting.


thats fine that its maintained, but call a duck a duck. you just have regular service intervals done. nothing meticulous about basic regular maintenance.

although im a big bitch in cold weather too, i just did my spring oil change last weekend and changed my tensioner over lunch because it was over 45* lol. 20 minute swap and i was still bitching.

I guess my point is, I really don't care what your point is. Ford maintained my first raptor for 120K miles. I am positive that they will do the same for this one. If something goes sideways, its on them. Ducks being Ducks and all, I highly doubt that you spend nearly the time I do going through your truck on a weekly basis. Refer back to my original post, "Contract pilot, 4 hours from home" and thats 7 days a week for past two years. Not about to drive 4 hours home to change my Very Own oil. And regular maintenance/preventative maintenance is exactly what Jenny gets, just like my last one did. And honestly, for the life of me, can't figure out why the hell anyone on this forum gives two ***** about how often or who changes the oil in their trucks. This place is truly ridiculous half of the time.

And I can promise you, my truck gets more than the Seasonal oil change. And by any industrial standard, pretty positive that my brakes aren't shot at 18K miles, and my tires have been rotated 3 times now. Hope this meets the approval of the Real Enthusiasts.

cant be to talk shop, you dont even work on your own truck. you can only talk LOOK lol. good luck on your basic regular maint you think is meticulous and 100% perfect and they all have 30+ years of mechanical experience and will for sure keep you super informed when they strip your oil pan bolt out lolololol.
