So after numerous back and forth from the dealership that my cruise control works, but when I try to use it, it doesn't they finally replaced the CC switch panel on the steering wheel. Not a big deal but the replacement switch looks nothing like the one they replaced nor does it match the others. But hey it works so I can deal with that. What ticks me off is that now I have a problem that I didn't have before. All of the switches on the left side are totally out of wack. My volume buttons change the channel on the radio, my speak button mutes the radio, my steering comfort button activates the sync speak control, and my drive select buttons do nothing. I'm lucky the speak button didn't throw it in 4wd while I'm doing 80mph on the freeway trying to make a call, that's how I found out they were all screwed up. There's 2 Ford dealerships in my area but one always has a 2 month waiting list, I'm beginning to realize why. And also my rain sensor is inop now (yes I checked the settings, it is on) Any idea what they possibly could have done? They told me to bring it in Monday but I'm so sick of this $h*t.....it's always something with them. I try to remain patient but a guy can only take so much. Why can't we all be blessed with a competent tech like FordTechOne. Whatever dealership you work at my friend, I sure hope your clients are giving you your flowers.

it sucks because this has been going on for a very long time. I am not sure when it changed from service centers with qualified technicians to pretty much parts changers and a few experienced guys for support who pretty much do what their computer says to do. My brother worked for Chrysler some time ago and it was the same thing. nobody could recreate the issue and just either did nothing or changed parts until it is fixed. now it seems like they do nothing even though its under warranty and clearly covered.

I just had mine in the shop. 2 water leaks fixed finally (I hope), changed the carpet because of the water/mold issue. had the trailer wiring harness fixed (wire fault code), rear window driver defroster stopped working. (replaced it), both sway bar links replaced. clunking noise. 35k miles. seems early.

it was all good until I left the dealer. a couple press in retainers to hold the carpet in place behind back seat never put back in, rear seat belt wouldn't retract, and lane assist on console didnt work. failure to check things that are affected and attention to detail is beyond me how it can slip thru the cracks no matter how busy and in a hurry to get the vehicles out and back to the customer.

good thing was when I brought it back they brought it back in and fixed those three items in a matter of a 1/2 hour. lane assist wire not plugged back in.

I hope you can get it resolve in a short period of time as well. we all feel for you it just stinks when things that weren't a problem when you bring it in are now. the worst.

I don’t think you got the right part installed. You’re right, I’d be hesitant to use the buttons. Next thing you know, your passenger could be launched out the moon roof and hopefully you have one !

Can you post a picture of the new switch that they installed? The switches are differentiated by resistance, which is how the module (SCCM) determines which switch has been pressed. It sounds like they may have either damaged the harness or not fully seated a connector, which will skew the resistance readings and cause incorrect switch operation.

Here's a pic of the CC switch they replaced.
