Is anyone currently running the Amp research steps? I had them on my f250 and they did fine just wondering if anyone has them and ran into problems with them from offroading or such

The only issue will be rocks being kicked up by the front tires. The stock running boards deflect a ton of rocks.

I picked up the rear manual step and it looks like it bent my bumper on that side..... I'm also not 400 lbs

We've installed them on many of the trucks here and some of them actually see the dirt/sand.

The main concern is the rocks flinging up and denting the board. If you have general knowledge, you can actually take the boards off before you play in the dirt, and then put them back on when you're back on the pavement.

If you find your boards dented and want new ones, the board can just be replaced without buying the motors.

The motors are fully enclosed, so dirt and sand should not be an issue jamming them up.

AMP also has a 5 year warranty on the motors.

If you want a quote, toss over a PM.

I Plan on installing these as well. I have them on my Chevy and are 100% satisfied. Leaves a clean look!

The only issues I have seen is them staying down and not retracting up or not going down when the door opens. I think I heard the problem was with the grounding but not sure. The ones on my chevy have worked flawlessly.

I plan on putting a layer or two of the clear "helicopter" tape on the bottom of the board to help protect it from rock dents/chips. Hopefully it will deaden the impact...

I have them on my Harley Davidson and I run it off road and in northern Michigan winters and no problems. The rocks don't dent it so far and I run 35 toyo mts and can hear the rocks hitting them but no damage so far. I like them and they keep a lot of dirt off the side of the truck.

The tape should do the work. Just gotta watch out for the biggies when you're crawlin'. Just like most things, if you take care of it, it will take care of you.

I wouldn't even have a guard. I run it in mud snow and sand and have no problem. Maybe just linex them and ull be good. Unless u are banging them to crap they will work fine.

I've had these on my lifted Hummer H2 SUT for over 5 years with no problems. No extra damage down the side of the truck, and that's running 40" Toyo's. However, the Raptor has a different shape, so there's more of a chance for flinging something up, but not enough to deter me.

A couple of recommendations:

1. Clear bra the lower half of the doors. You can start the edge of the bra at that indent in the middle of each door to make it less visible.

2. Spray the steps with Line-X, Rhyno Liner, Speed Liner, or something similar. The steps can actually get very slippery when wet, and the liner adds grip. This would also protect the underneath of each step. The extra weight is not enough to ruin the motors. Mine have been sprayed for several years, now.
