Hey guys hope you are all safe and well. I had the longer side of the rear seat folded up of my 17 802a raptor and I noticed that the handle for the release tab was popped out a little when folded upwards as well as in the normal position when folded down. I thought it was supposed to be flush when in its normal position?? Is this normal? It does seem to be working fine and no issues with the seat being stuck or something. Or has it happened because of wear and tear? Maybe I’m just going nuts lol. attached are pics for a little clarity. Thanks in advance.

My 15 had the same issue on the one side. Never did anything or investigate how to fix it.

mine is not like that I assume the cable inside is either strectched or not connected right. I wouldn't know how to get the handle out to investigate. is it still under warranty. assuming not since I a 17'. if it is then take it in.

here, on frf
sometimes the cable gets stuck and the spring cant retract it all the way. you can pull the handle off and look at the cable. also look at the bottom where the cable comes out.

Does your driver side rear seat bottom (the longer side) lock in the up position so you need to use the handle releast? Mine has never locked up where i had to use the handle release, only the passenger side rear locks up and uses the handle release...maybe my ignorance, as mine has never locked in the folded up position since new.

Loose handle is actually good indicator from safety perspective. Lol
You don’t want the cable attached to the handle to be over tighten which may cause a seat latch partially release condition for the worst case. Cable always has a few mm of additional slack to prevent this from happening.

To make this type of paddle handle tight, they usually put a small spring around the handle pivot shaft. You can check if it’s loose/broken or Ford never put a spring there.LOL

Well guys, I’ll guess I’ll stop by the dealership and ask them what’s up with this. I’m not sure it’ll be covered under my premium extended warranty though. But I did notice today that if I lift up my seat and push hard enough sometimes the release handle goes back to its place flush. But when I fold back the seat to its normal position and put my hand underneath the seat I notice that the handle isnt flush and it’s out a little like in the picture.
