I don't want a permanent bed cover but would like one that's essentially a tarp that ties down so I can use when I need to and easily remove and store when I don't. I've seen options online but the reviews are mixed and I don't want to scratch the exterior. Product suggestions? Thanks.

I have the BAK Flip MX4 and with 2 wing nut screws it's removed. A tarp style cover flaps in the wind and makes noise and is not as secure. If you need pics give me holler!

why wouldnt something like a truxedo lopro work? when rolled up it sits on top of the front rail, the whole bed is open. I mean, I guess you lose a very small armount width wise for the track but thats it

If you don't care about security, nothing. Just depends what you're using it for.

My humble two cents worth.

I have the truxedo lowpro (Came with the truck, used) And its fine, no flapping in the wind. Sits on its own rails so exterior damage is not a concern.

A soft roll-up cover will work fine if security is not a concern. Check out 4wheelonline. They offer soft tonneaus like Access and Truxedo.

I personally had a hard roll-up BAK cover but couldn’t hold up to the off-road abuse and I eventually had to throw it away. I now have the Truxedo LoPro and like that it rolls up out of the way and since its soft can handle off-road or with two tabs, it can come right off and store in the back seat floor (at an angle). The X15 is popular too as I would of gotten that one if it was available back when I got the LoPro. We sell soft covers at FRF member discount prices if interested in getting one, just PM me.
