Anyone have experience running these discount Big Brake setups? I've been looking at various brake upgrade options and it seems like there are a number of kits that all use the same bits with different logos.

R1, Ceika are two popular ones and it can't be a coincidence that they offer the exact same rotor sizes, diameters, and option colors. They're probably all made from the same factory. I'm nervous about buying a brake kit made in China. I know manufacturing quality there has gotten better - but not sure I want to trust my a$$ to the "lowest bidder"

So I'm stuck deciding if I want to buy something that is cheap but looks good - or bite the bullet and do the full Monty with Alcon, Brembo, or Wilwood. I think I know the answer - just trying to find a way to reach a decision point. $1000 for one and $3000 for the others is a hard pill to swallow. ...but its brakes, know what I mean?

How did you guys make a decision?

Thanks

Rocky

Maybe just don't waste your time. BBKs are mostly about bling on these trucks.

Don't want to make this into a sales pitch but I replaced my brakes with Brake Performance because the price was really good and figured brakes are brakes. I knew after installed that it just wasn't right. So I changed the brake fluid thinking that might be the issue. No difference. I even let others drive it and they said they could tell they weren't that great. They were worst than stock.

I started selling for Freedom Motorsports and eventually knew that I would most likely get a set of R1's myself considering these other brakes were already wearing out. Plus I sell them so I needed to have them on my truck, right. That was pretty much what made my decision plus always hearing the positive feedback.

I put them on in May and now I know what everyone is talking about. Bear in mind that Chris is using the R1 rotors but we have chosen to stick with the Posi-Quiet pads instead. These are pads that they do not make, we have them order them for stock just for Freedom Motorsports and they know they go with our packages. They have been trying to get us to switch and Chris did test them out, they didn't measure up. We are sticking with what we know works great on the Raptor. Right now we did switch over to the Geomet rotors due to the rust prevention and sound dampening and then combine with the pads we use, very quiet, great performance and practically very little dust. My other brakes would coat the wheels with dust weekly.

I daily drive mine and drive aggressively (got that Pedal Commander too) and the R1 Concept package is a definite improvement, so much so that we have sold a lot to GEN2 folks who are taking off their perfectly fine OEM rotors/pad to experience the difference.

Plus, they are on sale for Raptoberfest.
