I'm pretty set on purchasing the airlift 5000 ultimate bags for the Gen3. I'm considering both the wireless onboard compressor, or sticking with manual, and using a handheld compressor. I only tow a few times a year, however, we do use the bed quite a bit to run up to camp in the Summer. We load up coolers, water etc. I would air down on the way back when we are light.

Is it worth it to go with the onboard compressor, or just go manual and use one of this handheld compressors that look like a drill? This way I can use the handheld for trailer tires etc. I'm worried the onboard may deteriorate over time in the salty winter in Northern Canada. The onboard compressor is also about $800CAD.

Thanks!

I don't have the Airlift 5000 bags on my Gen3 yet, but I had bags on my Tundra for towing/heavy loads. Mine was set up manually, I only used them once a month or so. For me it was worth the added cost or complexity. When I get mine I'm going to go manual.

I've got the Air lift 1000 on mine and use a manual one.. Won't go to auto just for the reasons that you mentioned.. cost plus, survivability.. If I get an allocation for a '25 then I'll get the 5000 and still use my little manual pump.
