It's a freeze up of the core. Park it and the ice melts off and its fine the next day.

I've had a Taurus that did it once, and a Cadilac that did it multiple times.

It always happened on long highway trips when it was really hot and humid. On the highway the system has a chance to get really cold behind the dash with the sustained airflow over the condensor core. Add in a ton of water on the core avaiable to freeze and you can get a huge block of ice very quickly.

The system doesn't monitor the core, so it only sees the warm air (since it's not passing through ice) in the box and keeps the compressor going, further icing things up until it finally cuts out from the pressure switch and you have nothing but a block of ice on the core.

"A couple times now I've been driving around and the AC is on but nothing seems to be coming out of the vents. I'll have the fan speed turned all the way up to 7 and can hear a blower/fan in the dash that sounds like it's working, but literally little to no air is coming out of the vents."

Just happened on mine for the first time, 3 months into ownership. Stopped at a store for provisions, let it sit for 20 min then restarted it and it worked fine.
Not sure if related, but 30 min before the AC did this failure, my center dash screen went black and restarted.

There’s no spec due to the number of environmental factors that can affect the temperature delta.

As far as the TSB, the current one came out on May 23rd and applies to all 2021-2023 models. It’s a new calibration for the PCM and HVAC module to prevent evaporator freeze up. If yours is partially freezing that could explain your concern of reduced performance.
Are you referring to TSB 24-2212? Please help I'm dying in this Texas heat.

If you really want A/C and Ford can't fix it- tape off small sections of your A/C condenser core (front and back sides). You can use cardboard with tape all around the edges. Slowly block more and more until it stops freezing up. The hotter liquid refrig leaving the condenser and going into to the evap core will keep the core slightly warmer. House A/C is the same way- a dirty/blocked outdoor condenser will make the liquid line hotter, and increase the temp of the indoor A coil.

Don't overheat your engine since the condenser core is in front of the rad core, but assuming you are unloaded- you could block off quite a bit before it's an issue. Tape off the side that has the return coolant line for the engine, since it's the cooler side of the engine rad.

Pull the tape off when it finally cools down.
