I found out long ago one of the things a winch does for you is gets you stuck futher off the road.  1st stage, go as far as you can in 2wd.  Then go into 4wd high, go as far as you can then 4wd low and you start being careful at that point as you know all is left for a life line is the winch.  Without a winch you start having doubts where you should go earlier.I do a lot of hunting in Wyoming, Colorodo and New Mexico where we get into some places that you might not see another truck for days at a time so the winch becomes a pretty important tool.</blockquote>
