Adaptive headlights without Forscan?

I have a 21. They are "adaptive" by default. Mine have always worked and I know of no way to turn off and on. When you start the truck the headlights should "dance". You may have to pull in front of a garage door or wall to see it. Only other thing I can think of is possibly a bad or not properly plugged in Headlamp Control Module (HCM). Had a problem with mine about 2 months ago and tech found that it wasn't fully plugged in.

Good to know, thank you for the insight! I’ll check tonight, it did seem odd that I could never notice them bending with the wheel.

Hopefully HCM is good to go.

As others have stated, you already have this feature.…no Forscan needed. Make a few turns out of your neighborhood slowly & you’ll see the magic.

the bending is only slightly, it not like its going to aim the way your'e turning.
I disagree. it precisely AIMS where you're turning and even further out unless you're doing high speed 90-degree turns lol. very noticeable in the dark, very helpful offroad.

I guess you're right but, it can only go so far it doesn't aim right or left more than 5 to 10 degrees max. It's more beneficial on longer distances than winding roads IMO. It's not like when they have lights on the sides of vehicles when you are turning right and left which illuminate the side when you turn your turn signals on at low speeds to illuminate the drive or streets you are turning into . like I said its a slight bend to help when going around curves in road, not a right or left turn. I guess you're right in that sense it does aims the way you're turning but not enough to really really notice it unless you are actively looking for it. My Jag would turn a lot farther than this one does, it was really noticeable. Maybe because the car was so low to the ground compared to this.


Maybe its mine and it doesn't go as far as it should.


What I really wish it did was to adjust up and down based on how much weight I have in the back. Damn I get flashed a lot by oncoming cars as if I have my brights on. You'd think that it could adjust down as you sag in in the rear end based on cargo. I should think that is a no brainer on an engineering standpoint. If it can adjust left and right it should be able to adjust up and down.

idk those side lights were never powerful enough. at least not on cars/trucks I used to own. Also, I would say it feels more like 20-degree turn, but that's subjective. I do not know the specs, one thing I know for sure it really helps to nail those pesky trail turns when you forgot to get back before nightfall :)

you're right on those side marker lights they never were bright enough. but did help for turning into driveways. I guess more of a safety issue to see sidewalks and to make sure nothing is in the way.

Ill have to try to pay attention on how much my lights actually turn. Maybe thats one reason I am getting flashed more now than on the gen 2.

oh, that's another reason. apparently, our lights are too high. I've mentioned it to techs at 2 different stealerships and they both said it's a-ok and up to specs, but literally every 5th vehicle flashed on me until I took my trusty phillips screwdriver under the hood only to find out that it's way too short to adjust damn lights. Anyway, quick run to hardware store, manually adjusted them down... no more flashes ever and they still shine pretty far out.
