How do you test them?
Where do you find the specs for them?

With a multimeter. You test the resistance of the primary coil and secondary coil. The primary would nave a much less resistance than the secondary, usually in the single digits while the secondary is in the kilo-ohms range. I couldn't tell you how to measure them on this vehicle though, never have done it. Could probably get a dealership to test them for you.

From my experience the primary is the top most two pins, just measuring the resistance between them. And the secondary is one of the top pins and the bottom that actually connects to the spark plug. At least that's how it is from working on motorcycles....

I would advise against them. You might get a better spark but you will sacrafice reliability. Last thing you need is a coil failing when off-roading. I have had aftermarket coils in a previous vehicle and 2/3 of them failed after about 25K miles.

OEMs spend a lot of money on ignition systems because they impact fuel efficiency and emissions. If you think that you are loosing power to weak coils, your spark plugs will show signs. If this is the case, I would replace with stock coils to get the pep back. The reliability of staying with stock ignition equipment is worth it in my opinion.

I installed them on my 2000 F150 turbo 5.4 a couple years ago and am convinced they are just as good as the, much more expensive, Motorcraft COPs. I've worked on numerous Ford 4.6/5.4 motors over the last 15 years and have learned that one of the most difficult things to diagnose is the coils. Static bench testing will show them as being good but as soon as they get hot and put under load, they start to break down. I used to keep a couple spares on the shelf to swap in if one of the stockers started missing but that was always a trial and error type of thing. I finally broke down and just swapped them all out to the Accel's and haven't had an issue since. My situation may be more extreme since I ran the truck pretty hard at the track, but I know plenty of folks that spent many hours trying to track down intermittent spark issues only to find out is was 1 or more bad coils. Some folks get 100k miles out of the stockers and some only 40k so YMMV. As All The Way said, pulling a plug will give you lots of information. However, if you are going to do that, you really should pull all of them to get a good picture of what's going on.

Thanks guys for your thoughts, I will be pulling my plugs out for sure to check things out.
I just love to keep my truck in tip top shape and ran across these and wondered if they would help.

Wondering on peoples thoughts on these.

My 5.4 has 78,000 miles on it and it doesn't seem as peppy as it once did.

I'm sure over time the stock coils loose some spark.

Might help

On my motorbike i drove on Vpower 98ron
The previues owner just drove 98/95 Ron cheap fuel

I noticed a clear increase in power
And my plugs and engine internals accually looked cleaner

Maybe a good engine clearingbank fuel addition might help
As that is part of the Vpower here in the netherlands
And the higher RON produces lil more heat helpin clearingbank internals

Btw
How often do you run more the. 3000rpm for prolonged periode ??
