I'm a few days away from pulling the pin and ordering a loaded up S-Cab, in blue...I live in Canada, and have gotten a few price quotes...
What should one expect to pay north of the Border?
Anything to look out for? Will I regret the price tag?

Don't know what the difference is up in Canada, but I can tell you, you won't regret the price tag once you slide your ass into the seat

PS94,

Im from alberta and checked out lots of raptors around the province about 6 months ago (mostly used). Then I looked south of the border and couldnt believe the price difference. I bought a loaded 2010 Scab 6.2L in phoenix. I saved about 8 to 10 grand off the hop. After driving up, paying tax, getting it "canadianized" (DRL, block heater, etc), and everything else I dealt with I saved about $5000.

That was in october last year and it was a 2010 so it was much cheaper than a 2012 now...but im sure buying in the states would save you some coin. That is if ur up to going through the hassel.

Just a thought.

That's a good question, blood. We seem to get gouged in Canada. Perhaps it's corporate greed. I can't imagine that the cost of doing business (taxes, payroll, employee benefits, etc.) is so much greater in Canada that it would justify such a large price difference. Or does it?

I recently posted about this price difference elsewhere on this forum. Nobody seemed to care. It's not just the domestic vehicles like Ford and GM (some GM's are actually built in Canada). Luxury European cars like BMW, Audi, and Porsche are even worse. You can easily save $10,000 to $20,000 on a slightly used BMW or Porsche brought up from the States.

If you price out a Scab Raptor (with most of the options) on both the U.S. and Canadian websites, there is a good $10,000 difference in the price. The exchange rate is nearly 1:1.

To import a slightly used Raptor into Alberta, you would only have to pay the following:

Duty 0% (because of the free-trade agreement)
Excise tax on air conditioner $100
Excise tax on Green Levy about $1100
GST 5% of the purchase price
Registrar of Imported Vehicles (RIV) registration fees $195
no Provincial sales tax in Alberta (some other other Provinces, yes)
cost of getting it "Canadianized" (some vehicles are directly admissable and may require little to no modification)
broker fees, if you decide to let someone else do the work ($ ??)

I would have seriously considered doing what RaptorRexCullen did, if I wasn't getting a discount. Otherwise, it would be too much hassle for me.

Not sure where you live but a trip over the border might save you alot of money. I live in Niagara Falls, ON and bought a 2012 loaded Supercrew cab and I saved over $8,000. Took 45 minutes to import it thru US and Canadian Customs.

Is the cluster the same? What about warranty?

I'm about about a 4h drive (456km) North West of Edmonton, Alberta..It would be a long drive home, even if I bought it in Seattle or Spokane...

I drove mine from pheonix to calgary. 26 hours straight. But I made a holiday out of it, and stopped in the dunes and ripped it up!!! So if you have the time drive up the bc coast and then inland and do some sightseeing/ofroading.
