You are correct but there is also a chance that water can push through if the vacuum inside the transmission is great enough. It is also a common vent that gets plugged up due to dirt so I am trying to mitigatethat as well. I am doing this as a safety so that in the very small chance that I do get into really deep water, I do not have to replace my transmission.
