I started having intermittent ignition breakdown like bad plugs or a failing coil so I bit the bullet and dropped it off at my dealer for new plugs and coils.

I was not prepared for the prison **** that followed... $3,200 for a tune-up and one bad o2 sensor. The plugs alone were $600.

I will say though I had no idea just how bad it was performing power wise. Much better now.

The dealer contacted you with that price before they started work, right?

Just did a quick search and the 5.4 had problems with breaking the plugs off in the head adding additional labor. Any body know if the 6.2 had the same problems?

No.. that was the original 3v head design and plugs. They changed to a new design for the 3v and resolved it. The 6.2l is a 2v setup

Yes.

They said the plugs closest to the firewall are labor intensive. Also, there is a plug behind the dual upper coil/shock mount on each side that they had trouble with.

I'm sure they got over on me but I'm not in any condition to be climbing around the engine compartment.

Two tune ups and I could have a supercharger, lol.

Looks like almost 9hrs

1148 labor
1811 parts
63 disposal
108 tax

I forgot they also fixed my fuel door, it was like $100 for parts and labor. The rubber strap thing broke.

Crazy! I know labor is pricey but 9 hours to do this at $125+/hour. And at my dealer, I brought my Escape in because it was idling very low and I had bought new arms for the back window that I wanted them to just install. I came back after work to pick it up and pay and they said a clip had come loose on the vacuum line and that there was no charge. I said what about the install. He said nope you're good to go.
