I was off-roading in a sandy type terrain in 4 High with the rear locking differential engaged as well as off-road mode. I heard a POP while doing a pretty aggressive donut in the sand. Now my 2013 super crew (Which was purchased in august) makes a loud thumping/clinking noise when its in 4WD. I found this part still warm in the area where it popped.

any ideas what happened or if this would be covered by warranty?

The clunk is the iwe. It's blown and should be covered under warranty.

Not sure what that part is. It's machined so part of a housing or part of your drive shaft?

When engaging 4wd make sure your foot is off the gas. You can be rolling just make sure your not under load cause it'll be bye bye for your iwe's

I wish it was that easy of a fix. Burn little sage, wave it around and the ghosts are gone.

I never liked the idea of the whole "shift on the fly" thing, i prefer to be at a complete stop. Just seems like there is less to go wrong.

I couldn't agree more. I always turn mine on when I'm stopped or at very low speeds...I got stuck on a slush snow mound last weekend and it was all down hill from there...thank God for my friend with his Super Duty to pull me out :headbang:

In the years I've had lifted trucks, I've never gotten stuck but when the rear pumpkin is jacked up on ice, I knew I was done.
