Found mine also, installed the GJmotorsports 3rd brake light, definitely had to go through the headliner to access it. Remove the plastic round cap at the rear passenger side pillar by the seatbelt, remove 7mm bolt located behind that cover, pull plastic trim Back, remove the 2 round plastic retainers that hold the rear headliner in place, and that gives you plenty of room to get to it. Good luck….ps the GJ is pricey but worth every penny. Finally got a brake in the rain today had a chance to peer inside. Indeed the connector is locked in place with a plastic bodywork attachment that needs to be pushed out from behind or pull put by removing headliner. I guess I have the factory harness intact after all. There is a small access hole the wire travels through and the retainer is to the right of that and back an inch or two. If you gently pull and rotate the harness you can see the retaining clip move with it.
The older you get the more you'll realize aftermarket stuff is more often than not overpriced Chinese junk and OEM are much better engineered and produced parts, even if they come out of China too.
Its funny you say that im now wondering if the previous owner actually cut the connector off on the truck side or if he actually cut the wires off right at the factory 3rd brake light instead, im now thinking the later. I actually just bit the bullet and ordered the GJ with BD S2 sports from @4x4TruckLEDs.com (after just saying it was to expensive..haha). Rather buy once and cry once!
Got mine in 2 days, you wont be disappointed!I'm actually about to order the same exact setup from the same site - please let me know how quickly you get yours! I'm driving around with 1 sad little light remaining, barely shining on lol
Before you install, I recommend checking the harness. Sometimes the connectors aren't terminated correctly and cause for some headache.I'm actually about to order the same exact setup from the same site - please let me know how quickly you get yours! Sorry I didn't differentiate, I meant happy with the Evil Manufacturing and GJ 3rd brake light. Those cheap knock offs are garbage imo. There are also hundreds that bought Recon, Anzo and other after market brands that were very unhappy. Sure there are some good after market one's but I'm just one that likes staying true to the 100% stock Raptor look.
