Thought you guys might get a kick out of the new 2022 Toyota Tundra Off-Road Flex Truck. Judging by the comment section, TRD boys are deep denial over their new Off-Road pickup truck. They even got a little old skool GEN 1 Raptor bashing going on.

Guess that's why Toyota didn't install tow hooks on the new 2022 Tundra. TRD Off-Road in name only.

I was planning on buying a new TRD Pro for a very long time until they actually released the details of the new version. No tow hooks, fake leather seats, and 32 inch tires was a deal breaker for me. Im so glad I ordered a 22 Raptor instead, especially now since the new Tundra's have a serious turbo charger problem that requires the whole cab being taken off the truck for repairs. New Tundra owners are reporting they will have to drive a loaner Corolla while the dealer has their trucks for 30-60 days to get the parts and perform the repairs.

I’m not a big Toyota fan, although they have made some great vehicles here & there over the years….when they debuted the new “Supra”
That they were too cowardly to R&D on their own, almost admitting to the world they’re not confident enough in their engineering team
To produce a clean slate new performance drivetrain, lest they screw up & tarnish their “reliability” image…the I did a lil more research & found their inability to develop their own performance drivetrains didn’t stop at that BMW Supra. Nope. 2 of their most lauded engines- the V10 in the LFA & the n/a 5.0 V8 they’ve stuck in RC-F & other vehicles? Yeah they’re both designed & built by Yamaha.

Toyota is Pathetic.

I do agree with what you’re saying and I to planned on buying one until details came out. But just FYI Ford pulls the cabs of our trucks for repairs too. Mine got pulled for cam phasers once and left turbo for the second.

I was never really a Toyota fan or a Tundra fan. But I do have to say that new Toyota Sequoia TRD PRO is freaking nice. I reached out to my local dealer already for the wife. We both like it more over the new expedition.

Looks like they never learned their lesson from the previous Gen t-URDrA. No surprise there. The frame was so weak on those that it failed Ford’s Silver Creek durability test; which is one of the most basic. The routine is intended to test for NVH and suspension durability, not to determine whether the bed will hit the cab over repeated bumps. It’s a japanese poseur pickup; it only exists to pilfer sales from American manufacturers based on a fallacy of “reliability” that doesn’t exist.

Curious, what do you find so nice? The grille is comically oversized, the 3rd row is cramped, and it’s so cheaply made that they still have blanked off switches for the options you didn’t pay for…just like the 90’s. And on top of all that, it has no full time 4WD option. Expedition and Tahoe are a league above that half a$$ed effort. I haven’t experienced the new Grand Cherokee L in person, but from the photos it looks like it’s more on par with a luxury SUV than a competitor to a wanna-be like the “sequoia”.
