Interesting it says “high-output 3.5L Ecoboost V6 engine with more low end torque.” And according to motortrend, Ford Performance Chief Engineer Carl Widmann said, “The new induction system also broadens the torque curve; low-end torque is expected to come up, but peak numbers should remain similar.”

So the induction system can be retrofitted to a Gen2?

engine would have to be tuned for it to have any effect - assuming its even possible. Which would void warranty. Might as well just do a Cobb tune and get way more

I believe fordtechone posted the torque limits of the transmission in another thread. Assuming it’s the same box, there’s not a ton of room to safely increase numbers

Possibly, however it would likely need the tune from the Gen 3 and there are other changes to the new 3.5 HO compared to ours that would limit compatibility and effectiveness.

Let’s call it the gen 2.3 as it is really just a incremental change especially where it was wanted it most the motor! As far as I’m concerned the real gen 3 is the R coming next year. This truck just seems like a money grab until the R is finished cooking. I would personally would have preferred to wait a year or two for them to get the kinks worked out on the new model. Not me in the middle of BFE.
