We interrupt this program to bring you a totally irrelevant to the latest FRF b!tchfest response

How about a little network time protocol action so I don’t have to manually adjust the clock, for things like daylight saving time?

let’s get some selection options in the default drive mode. I can do this on my motorcycles, why not the newer Ford Truck? At least give me the choice to select sport by default.

They can't unless they measured their EPA estimates in sport mode. A car cannot start in a drive mode less efficient than what it was tested with. This isn't exclusive to Ford, my last two Lexus vehicles were the same way. I had ECO, Normal, Sport and Sport+

If I turned the vehicle off in Sport or Sport+ mode, it would start up in normal mode. If I turned it off in ECO mode, it would start up in ECO mode.

the 2 of you are funny we all agree the Gen 2 is better then Gen 1 but I will tell you I have had first hand experience with the "Oh Shit turbo lag" when trying to jump out of a lane and pass from a stand still when not in "SPORT" mode. I have driven a 350R for a little and the first gear pull on that is amazing. I am no scientist and can't tell you why that engine won't work in a truck but I sure be in line to buy one if it was available.

That o-shit moment is not turbo lag, but the truck dropping 4 gears before applying power for transmission reliability reasons. Turbo lag is feeling the engine strain without much power until you hit the power band. Raptor has very little turbo lag because of the small, twin-turbos and you can feel that nearly instant power delivery if you shift manually before mashing the pedal.

it depends on whether you floor it, or do something else. If you floor it in 10th, and you’re going say, 50, it’s only about 1.5 seconds. if you don’t floor it immediately, it’s 2+ seconds until something happens. Sport gets around this because the shift strategy is a tad more aggressive. If you don’t floor it in normal mode, first the truck thinks about acceleration. Next it thinks the driver really isn’t serious, just considering going faster, the driver doesn’t really mean it. But if the driver does really mean it, the truck is sure you don’t want to overdo it. Nope, just throw a few psi of boost at them and that will be that.
This “stages of grief” driving strategy programmed into the computer is pitifully bad and the only thing I really don’t “like” about the Raptor.

I won’t pretend to be involved in emissions and economy certifications, but the fuel mapping isn’t different, the nannies are different, and the shift strategy is different; you don’t get OD gears before 50mph or so, don’t drop below ~1800 rpms at any speed unless you’re coming to a stop. Now, i can see this impacting mpg from ~40-55 mph negatively, but probably not as much as we think. I’ve commuted my truck in both modes for weeks on end and I wasn’t able to appreciate a difference in mpg. I’m sure I could if I really tried to put the truck in a situation it was destined to fail but I wasn’t able to do it in a half a dozen almost full tanks of gas.

BTW, since you have had multiple Lexus, maybe you can tell me
What is the plural of Lexus? what if I have a neighbor with more than one.
do they have “Lexuses”?

Just trying to lend a hand since I know how obsessive you are about low-end torque.

Show us your math.

You guys are always making excuses. My truck doesn't need any.
