Coming to my 20' Raptor from a Platinum that had the center gear shift light I was pissed to see it was missing. It's something that if you've never had, then sure you won't mind, but coming from a truck that had it I dislike that they cheap out on something like that. Yes it's redundant, but how many other entertainment/other features on the trucks have redundancy that no one complains about like the radio? Don't get me started on not having a physical button for the heated steering wheel, I am extremely glad my 2021 daily truck has that.

I think you're right that you really only miss it if you were used to having it. It only took me a few drives before I didn't think about it, but my other truck has the old style column shifter.

It was a pure bean counter move by Ford, almost as chicken$hit of a move as removing the springs in the rear cup holders for model year 20.

Wait, so that was a thing in models before the 2020? I didn't know that. Maybe it's something I could swap out in the future then if it was an option on different/earlier models.

This post caught my eye. a friend just bought a 20 had me do a few things to it today. He was leaving and asked if a bulb was out on the shift indicator....

Ok never noticed but woot! You can look down instead of looking at the dash.

Ford sells how many f150’s each year? Pennies add up fast. Everyone acts like they would pay 5$ more for X item or feels the truck should just come with it yet everyone brags about paying under X price.

It was lit up on F150s w/ console shifter from 2004-2018.
From what I've heard it is lit up on 14th gen F150s (2021-22).

Lol I noticed this too. I had a 2018 801a truck w/ a bunch of a la carte options, then it got wrecked & I got an 800a 2020 (I think that’s how it went they removed one of the option groups)

Anyhow, where my 2018 had full leather seats w/ 801a the 2020 added some cloth type inserts in the seat bolsters- zero other reason than to cut cost. They added the larger center cluster display compared to the smaller one I had in my 2018 tho, but I imagine that may have saved Ford $$$$ anyhow by streamlining their production process. The sliding console piece & door trim pieces were carbon fiber in my 2018, but they had a lightly textured (I think made to look like scales) slightly 2 tone matte/shiny dark grey tone. Those pieces in my 2020 are just very basic grey paint, no design no nothing.

Biggest gripe I have is not putting memory seats in every truck that has power seats. Power, lumbar, heated, contrast stitched, w/ Raptor emblem in headrests…no memory? Huh?

Sorry for high jacking your thread, I felt the need to rant/vent.

Do you have a link to the light strip you used? And how could we make the glow of the light as close to OEM as possible?
