Start a thread. . Stop paying over msrp. Market dictates the price dont over pay.

Doubt that will work, readers of the forum are a tiny percentage of the Raptor buyers. When I got the Californian line from the last dealer I ask. "Why don't you ship it there?" Got a dumb look in return, the weird thing is they don't mind when you walk out. I've never seen a car dealers that lets walk out without even asking your name and number.

There are 10 Raptors sitting in lots within 20 miles most have been there for months.

I'm trying to find out the price of a used 17 right now from a dealer I've bought 2 trucks from in the past. Roughly 2k miles on it.

First round of quotes and they're trying to charge ~5k over MSRP of a new one.. uhhh no.

I've got a 13 Roush, so I'm not exactly pressed to find one, but I sure as shit won't pay MSRP or over MSRP for a used 17.

Yep...Found they same thing, a few with 25K miles a one or two thousand under MSRP.

The same trucks have been listed nationally for a LONG time, seem to be a few more added every week with no takers.

There are just not many used Raptors to really have a good benchmark for pricing yet. The few I have seen around Houston have been about 2k-4k below MSRP, but they have 10-15k miles on them. Texas direct auto has a few on their web site if you want to use that as a bench mark on pricing.

I would guess the dealer paid too much when they took the truck in on trade, as selling for 5-10k over MSRP was fairly common a few months ago. This is causing them to ask too much for the truck to try to get out of it. I would think on a used truck with 2k miles maybe getting it for 3k or so under MSRP would be okay depending on what market you live in. Not a huge savings at all but that is just me making a guess on pricing.

Does anyone else have any ideas on what a fair price on this truck would be? Please no one say 10k under MSRP because I think we all know that is not real.

Just my .02...I have an 18 Screw with 9500 miles on I am considering selling. MSRP was just under $70k. Looking to list around $65k. It has Bakflip MX4, RPG mod, and 17" Rotiforms on it. Just not sure what direction I am going with it yet. Miss my Superduty.

Well, you asked for a "fair" price. A "fair" price would be about 7 to 10k under MSRP for a used 17 right now. That's not far off from invoice on a new one.

A dealer asking for ADM or even near MSRP right now on a used 17 is double dipping, and shady as shit doing a "rinse and repeat". You know they didn't give the person trading / selling it to them MSRP...

Used is used man, you can't demand new prices for something used.

Some of these prices are regional as well. From what I've seen here in TX most dealers start out between 5-10k over. How much they actually sell for is anyones guess. I have a great relationship with my dealer, also worked for them for 7 or so years as a sales manager. They gave me mine for MSRP. They also a week prior to me buying mine took a 17 with 9k miles in on trade. They put 67k in it and ran it through Manheim's auction in dallas and it brought 69k. MSRP on it was a little over 69k. Only reason the ran it through auction instead of putting it on the lot is because they just got 3 in and felt it was priced too close to them.

That is the Raptor market. I had 13 and 14 Screws and paid around $55k for each brand new. Put 70-80k on each one and traded one for $48k and the other for $50k. These things don't depreciate like most trucks. I buy at least 1 new truck a year so I see the trade in values across the board pretty well.

I'm sure your's is alright and nothing personal but I wouldn't touch a used car with a title history from Texas unless it was built after Harvey. Perhaps it wouldn't bother other folks. When I bought my used BMW I would't even consider a car with east coast title history after Sandy.

If you're a Corvette guy this link will make you cry.

You are correct in saying that 7-10k off of MSRP is fair, but if any dealer was selling a Raptor with 2k miles on it for say 60k (assume 70k new) it would sell within hours. Fair in my case being what price would the buyer get a relative good value compared to buying new and the seller still make some profit (we don't know for sure that the seller of the used truck was also the seller of it new)
