Hello everyone,
First post looking for advise. Local dealer is selling a fully loaded 2017 Raptor at MSRP for $68,500. The vehicle has 3,000 miles and was driven by owner of the dealership. They are listing as a CPO with a 1.9 interest rate. Other dealers selling 2018s want $10k over sticker. Is this a good deal?
Thanks.

2018s are being bought at MSRP or less by many FRF members. The 2017 will be a year old model the day you get it. If you need the financing deal I could understand...else there's really no excuse for paying sticker on a used 2017 with 3,000 (you can assume "stomp on it") miles. But if you need the financing deal...maybe a $70,000 vehicle isn't the best idea. And just 'cause dealers are showing $10k over...don't assume that's what they're getting.

So it’s not a great deal, but part of it is where are you located? Does the 17 have the options that you want or are there some things you do not like about it? You can likely get a new 18 for MSRP in most places (some places like California and Texas are harder) and all things being equal I would rather a 18 over a 17. The 3000 miles would not bother me at all, that’s really nothing.

Do you have a trade in as well? If you do then push to get 1 or 2k over what you want on your trade. That will in effect lower your purchase price of the truck. That and the 1.9 May help to make it a better deal.

Right, they’re basically asking you to pay sticker for a used vehicle.

Thanks...yes, it has all the options I want. I live in CT and called the Tri-State area and Mass/RI for a 2018 at sticker. As a CPO i get four yrs B to B and 7 yrs on engine/power train.

I’m not sure what the NE is like on pricing. I’m in Houston and it is fairly hard to get a MSRP deal. I had to order my truck to get MSRPas every dealer wanted at least $2500 over sticker for a truck on the lot. At the end of the day I’m pretty sure if you spent enough time you could find a 18 like you want it and get it at sticker price. Really I guess the question is how much money is your time worth? That 17 with the added benefits of being CPO is not a bad deal, not a steal, but not a bad deal. If it has the options you want in the truck then I don’t see a problem in getting it.

Dealers here don't get but a few up here. $10k over sticker only the guys with money in the wealthy suburbs don't care as it's show at the golf club.

Sounds like you would have to travel a bit for a 18 at MSRP or below. My opinion is that if the 17 has what you want then get it, you are not overpaying for it IMO. Some may say you are and to a limited extent maybe you would be, but maybe 1 or 2k over priced. In relation to a 68k truck you are talking about no real difference.

On the B2B warranty that 4 years starts from first sales date. If it is CPO then that first sales date has already happened, so you may not get a full 4 years of warranty. Just ask the dealer and they will let you know, not a major concern.

There are dealers selling 18's in the north east for msrp or less. I live on Long Island and went to Philadelphia for a msrp deal because dealers here wanted the same thing 10k over.
