Took my 2013 Raptor SCREW in for this recent safety recall 19S07 which they corrected with a PCM update and ever since the engine fan runs at high speed when the engine is first started (cold) and at random times. Very loud and annoying. It's so loud have to cut off the motor when in a drive thru. Almost 100k on the truck and never did this till now.

Took it back to my local dealer and they said is part of ford's new strategy and was intentional. Really hard to believe as its just too darn loud. Any else seeing this after the 19S07 PCM update?

I'm wondering if it might also be a bad TXV valve or clutch fan.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Allen

Yes. When I first took my home I noticed that the rad fan kicked on and sounded like a chopper was about to take off!
Searched around on the net for similar issues/problems before I joined this forum. Found out it’s a common annoyance.

Any updates on this? I'm going in for a separate warranty issue and want to have this recall done but I'm not all that excited to have the fans run on high speed all time instead of the lower speed!

Dealership told me it was working as designed and it was improving the cooling system. But it is louder than a diesel. Right now, we are having heat indexes in the 105-110 range but it also did it when temps were in the 90s. I took it to my normal mechanic that is very experienced in Raptors and he cannot find anything that would cause it. We ran 2 raptors side by side that were a year apart and got the update but theirs was not as loud as mine. My mechanic was not sure if they got the 19S07 or 19S19 update. He was going to investigate. Also, my husband has a 2010 and it is not doing it.

The 19S07 in combo with fluid changes (because I needed a 100,000 mile maintenance), fixed the shifting issue on mine but from what I understand that update is not available anymore and I cannot roll back. My husband's raptor is having the shifting issue but the truck was made is 6 months to early for the recall. He is trying to figure out how to get Ford to include his truck in the recall, but that is another issue. I did the 19S19 update because I got a letter saying that it might not have fixed the shifting issue and the truck could still have problems.

Not sure if this helps and if I learn more I will try to update. But I would at least ask which update they are doing and ask lots of questions.

That's odd I had the impression the fans will run at high-speed all the time. My fans will run at high-speed when the temp's are over 90° outside or pushing hard in off-road mode. However under 90° and normal driving the fans will run at the lower speed.
