I have a 2013 Ford F150 XLT with the 6.2L Raptor motor in it .. ( Special Order ) ... My up-grades so far ... as to keep under warrenty ... have been Headers , 3 inch dual exhaust , K&N Cold Air intake ... Ford said anything else will have to wait till after warrenty .... ???

My question is ... when I got the exhaust put on .... I was told that the motor would have to be re-tuned for my add ons.... I took it to my Ford dealer to have done and was willing to pay for it , but they checked to see if the dash warning light was on ... which it was not .... and said they didn't need to do it ... because no lights came on ???

Is this right ? Its runs fine , but feels sluggish when I first hit WOT ...

Don't worry about it .... or get re-tuned ??

Thanks for any help ...
Doug

Dealer wouldn't normally do custom tuning for after market parts. Even if they were capable. You would need to buy a tuner and install whatever tunes you purchase.
Forgot to ad it is normal to install a tune to take full advantage of the mods you have done.

You don't NEED a tune but could benefit from one. Ford is not your source for tuning. They tuned the truck at the factory for factory parts. Anything outside of that you are on your own. And be warned that tuning your F150 may void your power train warranty. If you dont want to risk that, don't tune. Accept your car as it us and enjoy your warranty.

If however you want to improve your trucks performance with a tune AND RISK YOUR WARRANTY, then buy a tuner and a tune and do it yourself. Many of us here have done it, and for $400 it's a great mod.

But,,if something in the engine or transmission breaks, AND if Ford denies warranty coverage, we won't be crying. We'll man up and pay for the repairs. That's the price of tuning.

Jump in, it's fun.

My dealer on the headers told me to just keep the old parts ... and if needed to put them back on if it became a warrenty problem .... extra work , but headers worth it ...
