2013 air con cab vibration

Hello All,
Just popping in see if anyone has had same issue. So truck is at 120k miles just had dealer do oil change and today while turning up fan on ac a distinct hum and vibration heard and felt in cab. Ac is cold and on lowest fan setting no noise is heard. Turn up fan and a humming and vibration starts. I will be back to dealer on Tuesday just checking if anyone else has had this happen. As always thanks for any info.

Shaft that opens/closes recirculating door broke and fell into fan. If I had to wager, it would be on that. It’s happened to dozens on this forum. I’m pulling my blower motor out tomorrow to fish out the broken piece and then use zip ties to wire the door closed. Not worth fixing for the hassle of ripping the dash out or for the $1200-$1500 the dealer wants to do it. AC still works, just have to choose fresh or recirc.

Same happened to me. Mine is stuck open. I'd be interested to know what it takes to get it fasted in the closed position since that would be my preference.

Yep just back from dealer and he showed me that exact example. Said 1200 to get in dash and replace or 129 and put it back in with no recirculate air. Ahh nice and quiet again. Thank you all.

Why is it more and more guys leave the dealership with more problems than they went in with?
Just saying....

Because ford techs know how these trucks behave and what to look for, they see dozens of them on a weekly basis. They aren't mom and pop "variety" mechanics who might see a newish f150 once a month. They have specialized training, experience, and a pool of other mechanics they can choose from to help troubleshoot and a lexicon of diagrams, videos and manuals to choose from. Just because the dealers charge more doesn't mean your getting ripped off, there is a lot of benefit to it.

Perhaps its best to not know you have a problem, until it causes a bigger problem that costs more money, then it is an easy decision to fix.

And before you think I am some kind of fan boy I have never taken any vehicle to any mechanic, I fix my own junk.
