Hi everyone,
I am new to the site, this is my first post, for one reason... I don't own a raptor.. yet. I'm going to be trading in my G37 for a new truck, my choices which I have narrowed down to were the new GMC Sierra Denali and the Ford Raptor. I don't like many trucks really at all, I am definitely not the typical truck person but I do have an appreciation for the better looking trucks out there.
With that being said, I have always been crazy about the Raptor, it is probably the only trucks the I can genuinely say I love each time I see one drive by. I drove to my local Ford dealership to really just ask the salesman about building and ordering a 2014 and if it was possible. He was like well you can't really order them because of the whole dealership allocation crap that he gave me, but I do have two here one was a 2011 with 35k, so I wasn't interested, but the other to my surprise was a 2012 Hennesseey Velociraptor supercharged 600. It has 16k miles on it. I wanted to test drive it but I didn't have the time. But after some debate over the weekend, I am really interested in it now, after I have done some more research into the truck. It previously had 2 owners each owned it for about 8k miles, I'm not sure when the hennessey package was put on though, and I was wondering like if I could call Hennessey and give the serial number if they would let me know when the package was put on. I don't like buying used because I just don't trust what happened to it when it wasn't in my possession, with that being said I think it is at a good price tag it is at 56k, I wouldn't have to do anything to upgrade it which was the problem with my G37, but I just want to make sure there isn't any known issues with the 2012s or Hennessey package that I should be aware of. he said they have had it on their lot and it will go to auction in the next week or two, I just don't want him to push me a truck to get it off his lot, that lets say what beaten to death by the previous owner and with the stress of the hennessey package there is nothing left of the transmission or engine. Like I said I haven't driven it yet and I would like to go back either tonight or tomorrow to really take it for a drive. One thing that stuck out to me was that the front bumper had some paint flaking off, but I know that the bumper can easily be swapped out as there are a ton of aftermarkets available, and is something I would probably do anyways. The exterior really does look great and the interior looks pretty much new, the steering wheel leather was a little faded, but that is not a major concern. What I am concerned about is the engine, transmission, rear-end, and of course the supercharger. It's weird because the sc says Roush and not Hennessey Powered, which from Hennessey's pictures it looks like they say Hennessey Powered instead of Roush. I have some mechanical knowledge that I have learned over the years and my dad and brother have a lot of mechanical knowledge, but this will be the first sc anything that I have owned, is there anything I should be looking out for in particular with the Raptors? I have seen some videos showing transmission issues with the 2012s, is that isolated or should it be a concern to be aware of? From my experience with my G37 I know there was a lot of TSBs that would come out that the Infiniti forum community would be aware of is this the same type of concept with the Raptor or Ford community? I just don't want to purchase it and be in for surprise.
I appreciate the advice in advance.
Thanks guy
