Right - it is more than most think. Ford doesn’t charge the dealers a “manufacturer markup”. I think that’s why consumers are mad that the dealers are doing it. I get that it’s a free market and they have a right to charge what they want, but it’s just unethical.

It's not unethical.

Lets say you had a mod on your truck (rims for example), and you wanted to sell those rims on Craigslist. What do you price them at? Most likely at the most you think you can get for them. That's the same thing the dealer does.

They have an item for sale, and will price it as high as they think they can sell it for. The market will dictate the actual value. If we as consumers think its too much, we don't buy, and the dealer is forced to reduce the price.

I do not work for a dealer, nor am I in the car business, but as a consumer who sells stuff on CL or eBay sometimes, I always price my stuff for the most I think I can get for it, and so do stores/manufacturers. Nothing wrong with that.

If we don't pay their asking price, they'll reduce it. Just that simple. This isn't a necessity that we are forced to buy and being gouged on. It's a luxury item that we choose to buy.

That is not originally what was said, but regardless I am glad to see more dealers that aren't drinking the Raptor Kool-Aid.
