Private seller. It's located in Ontario, 61000 km's, Nav, 20 inch Eagle alloys. Seems in perfect shape from the pictures, no photos of the skid plate or undercarriage though, asking 25 grand. Can't get up there to look at it, I guess getting a carfax and running a VIN check are the next steps. Don't personally know any mechanics in Ontario that I would trust to look it over. Anyone have any experiences in a situation like this?
Thanks

Sounds like it could be a decent deal, IF the truck is in good shape. But yea the carfax and vin check would be a good start. If that checks out, go see it in person.

Things to look for person:

-Obviously scratch and dents in the body
-check body line gaps, such as between hood/fenders, door lines, gap between cab/bed, tailgate/bed, Etc. (Looking at these can be a sign if its been off-road hard or in a wreck).
-look at the tow hooks, are they scratched up? (Could mean a recovery)
-open the hood look at the bolts (the ones going along fender line directly under hood line) that connect the front fenders to frame/body. (Looking at these bolts could show that the fender has been removed at one point, or they don't line up exactly in they're original position signaling a possible wreck)
-look over the shocks, are they leaking oil, or does the truck sag badly to one corner.

And that's just a start, then you would want to check out the motor and go for a test drive.

I'm sure there's more you could look at, but essentially if you go over everything thoroughly, you should be fine.

Just reread your post stating you can't see it in person. I would have the guy send as many pictures as possible to you, if he really wants to sell it, he will take a close up picture of anything you want. But i would not send any money until you see it in person.

Edmunds who is usually the lowest on value estimates shows a 2011 screw with no options whatsoever in ROUGH condition for trade-in is $25k.

"Rough - Several mechanical and/or cosmetic problems requiring significant repairs"

I asked for pictures of everything the first reply told me to look at, here's the reply I got in it's entirety
"Hello,

Sorry for my late answer but I was in the hospital during last days and I was unable to read my e-mail.I'm selling this beautiful 2011 Ford F-150 RAPTOR SVT because my daughter is in hospital, is very sick and I need money for treatment. I'm under enormous time pressure cause I need to sell it fast, before 31th of January that being the reason for selling it so low. My husband and I divorced last month, after the divorce I was awarded the car. It is in immaculate condition, non-smoker, meticulously maintained and hasn't been involved in any accident... Clear title. The total price is $25,000 including delivery and handling to your address. It is located in Quebec where I recently moved with my job.

I don't want to offend you, but the car is priced for a fast sale so if you intend to apply for a loan or financing please do not reply to this message.

The transaction will be managed by eBay Motors for our own protection as they act as a neutral third part. eBay Motors policy is safe & advantageous for both of us: they will keep the money until you inspect/test the car (you have 5 days for inspection) and in the mean time, offers me the guarantee that you have the amount needed to buy it and you will pay it once you received and accepted it. If the car is not in same condition as I said you will ship it back on my expense and eBay Motors will send you a full refund. But I assure you won't be the case.

Get back to me and let me know what you decide. Thank you for your time and interest.

God bless you and your family,"

blah blah blah blah. Anyhow I replied wishing undetectable maleware and an uncurable strain of gonorreah on her and all her family.
I've come across these scams a lot. Big flags for me are calling it a car, no financing, location not matching up with the ad, no phone number and ignoring my request for pictures. Hopefully no one gets caught up in something like this and I sent a report to kijiji so it will be gone soon.
On a happier note, I drove a Raptor for the first time today. Holy shit.
