So I know some have harsh shifting issues with the 10spd and I am as well however my harsh shifting comes on after using 4wd modes. In order for the harsh shifting to go away I have to have the truck reflashed and the shifting becomes smooth again. For awhile I was having to take it to Ford for the reflash but I have swithced over to a tune. Truck shifts amazing but as soon as I use 4H or 4L (not 4A) it starts shifting like crap until I reflash it.

Is this mechanical issue or a problem with adaptive learning?

Are you using 4H or 4L on a smooth surface such as pavement or packed dirt?

Weird. I had mine reflashed over a year ago (I think). No recurrence of harsh shifts at all.

Beach Sand and Mud 4H. Rarely using 4L

Strange. Using 4WD should have no affect on how the transmission shifts; they’re even controlled by two separate modules. The only thing I can think of is something binding in the T-case when it’s locked in 4WD, causing the transmission to increase line pressure.

I was unaware that they use two seperate modules. The Ford Dealer says that anytime you use a 4wd that is has to re-learn "adaptive" driving habits so it will be rough for few days. But for me it stay rough. I've gone as long as 3 weeks to give it time to re-learn.

I will probably bring it in and have Ford look at it and tell them about the T case and see if they can figure it out.
