I don’t need it. It is just for sound. The ECU is seeing knock according to the spark knock #’s. I do not hear any knocking or pinging. When it runs good the spark knock is showing 0 to -3 and has plenty of power. I’m leaning towards it seeing false knock or a knock sensor is bad now.

It has a VTA BOV adapter. I took it off to make sure it wasn’t the problem but no change so I put it back on.

Truck is pulling timing bad. Watch the spark knock in the video. Truck is backing the throttle down to 50% when WOT. Have zero misfires and can’t hear any pinging. Fresh plugs, air filter and run 93 octane. Could I be getting false knock?

Removed shutter blades. Intake temps are lower but still doing it.

I’m going to pull the shutter blades and see if that fixes my problem. I live in central Texas so it’s hot most of the year.

I think that problem was for 3rd gens from reading about it.

Air filter is new. Old one didn’t look bad but I replaced it anyway to make sure that wasn’t the problem.

This was a thought I had also. Maybe not closing all the way all the time. Is there a easy way to test to see if this is what’s happening?

They do cycle after remote starting it. Maybe the one in front of the intercooler is closing while driving and killing my IAT. I’ll hook up the scanner and watch the shutters and IAT when it acts up.

I wouldn’t think a boost leak since it drives fine 50% of the time with full boost.
