Ford is cashing in on something that should have been standard on the truck. The truck doesn't shift "Clean" and the power isn't as good as it should have been... Ford says- Let's charge our customers ($600-$750) for a simple PCM flash which makes the truck drive a LITTLE better and makes our...
I wrapped mine yesterday with

I took it down the whole shaft (Left it loose on the lower end for some in and out movement). I'll see how that works out. Ford put a thin rubber wrap around the top portion of the shaft only.
I'm not having a twist on the shaft, it's the in/out pull on the telescoping shaft that's binding under heat. I have done all the testing on the shaft itself. If it was twisting the steering wheel would also have a twist or slight turning motion. The shaft is shafting itself lol.
Your information is valid but in this case that's not what is happening. The movement is not side to side jerk it's in and out towards the firewall/steering wheel. The proof is in the bench testing when the shaft was tested off of the truck while cold/hot. The pinion gear coming out of the rack...
The lower shaft pulls out and pushes in during body/frame movement. The firewall bearing has been replaced already. The shaft coming out of the firewall is a solid part other than the "rag/rubber joint" under the dash. The lower shaft is moving if you look at the yellow rubber boot area. You can...
I understand what you are saying but I disagree due to the fact that I have done all the testing and I have video proof of this issue. You can clearly see what's going on in my videos and testing of the shaft. Additionally, Ford checked the steering rack and that was fine. This is a heat soak...
I went by my local dealer today and popped open the hood on a 2024 F150 Raptor to check the lower steering shaft (2024 PN# RL3Z-3B676-A).
I see that Ford added a rubber boot around the shaft for heat. Looks like the same shaft with an added boot around it. Why the change??? Seems obvious...
I have the rattle a lot more when I fully open the sunroof and leave the windows up. When it rattles I lightly push on the glass and it stops. Also, if I lightly push/hold the trim from the inside it stops. I haven't had the chance to add the felt tape yet.
Mine just started (4500 miles on my 2023) to rattle at this location. With a little pressure on the glass or the seal from the inside stops the rattle. I'm going to try that felt from amazon.
