Would love to know what FP was thinking…
This smells to me like a bit of corp silo work, the 3.0 and 3.5 teams were sent off to make a tune to add power but still would be safe for the driveline and the two teams picked wildly different balance points. And no where was there any checkpoint on...
Depends on the engineers and product managers attitude… i would guess probably not
-product managers…. How could they not look at the other tunes launched at ~50hp/100lbft gains for $850 and not think they needed to maintain something near that ratio. They deliberately decided they were ok with...
I think your comment about not taking any risk breaking things is the key to why the gains are so low.
Just looking at the curve you can tell the engineers backed off the gains as the rpm rises, just looking at the ranger/ bronco curve as a comparison
Other news looks like they pulled down the...
Agree it’s a cleaned up visualization of the crank dyno and they pretty much do cross at 5250, without markers on the axis can’t see it exactly. Its not like they are crossing at like 3000rpm
Does your cover have the ford logo on it? A trifold cover folds in 3 places…. If yours only folds in two then the dealer might have installed one of their own supplied products not the official ford cover. Did your order on window sticker, ask the dealer after the fact to install?
The ford...
I think in practice though it would be much less likely an FP tune would drive a powertrain warranty void for a couple reasons. Not saying it wouldnt happen but when i look at the risk/reward of the tune this is how i plan to approach:
1) OEM source, if the FP tune started generating issues it...
I think that is definitely a possible outcome I’m sure the answer is in the terms and conditions, I doubt it is super punitive considering ford is doing outright marketing to a broad swath of consumers vs keeping it quiet to be found only by hard core enthusiasts.
Of course even a drop to 3/36...
That’s what I was thinking…. Get within 30-40 hp of the RHO and be up 70-80ftlbs of torque. Offer it as a factory aftermarket for gen 3 to cover off on those thinking about the rho hp gap and for gen 4 make a version of this tune the standard calibration for the 3.5.
For ~$800-900 bucks and...
I noticed the dreaded squeak a few months ago coming from the front. Definitely more pronounced on the left. But coming from both. Dec build 2023MY all stock
Dealer I took it to is planing to replace both front shocks, warehouse out of stock, so waiting at least a few days.
Hopefully there...
I think the challenge there is that low base price on the RHO is not apples to apples equipment wise with the raptor. It exists solely for the headlines ram wanted to grab "more power less price", to meet roughly the 801a raptor equipment the RHO customer has to opt for a pricy (10k!) option...
I dont see any real reaction from Ford until the gen 4, and I dont think the RHO is going to affect their plans by much.
I think about it this way across a few dimensions
1) ford is selling all the raptors they can build. The trucks are selling at ~MSRP, ford hasn't had to sniff a factory...
It’s not just gas it’s brakes too. I posted in another thread on this topic.
We asked the instructors at assault and the answer was basically. It’s fine to jump in 4wd so long as no outside stress is on the driveline during landing. Throttle or brakes, basically the truck needs to equalize. At...
Ford and fox do have a “technology demonstrator” built by rtr which is one off lightning with custom raptor running gear. Obv the next raptor isn’t going to be full electric but clearly they are studying how to build shocks to handle battery weight and still do raptor stuff.
I expect them to...
First thing I would try is just a key cycle. The time mine stopped at the next stop light turned truck off, cracked door to shut it down, truck back on and it was fine.
yup, the inability to calibrate an opinion to the bigger picture
Ford: makes minor change to the headlight, barely different
Any Car Forum: I HATE this they RUINED it, barf emoji. + [INSERT reference to stereotypical design language from different brand/continent]
its either exactly perfect...
to be fair (poor word choice) the intro of a new model/refresh on a limited prod vehicle is typically where ADMs live, gouging the folks that "gotta have the first one off the truck" its when they last deep into the model cycle that we know something is wrong with the supply/demand greed pricing...
Kinda... depends on the semantics your dealer is using
Officially an accepted order means it doesnt have any errors in it. Dealers can take as many as they want. the key dependency is if the dealer has an allocation.
When the allocation comes up Ford will directly reach out to the dealer and...
if you can get them to give you the rail car number you can call the rail companies own tracking hotline and get the exact location. i tend to believe the farthest along piece of information you can get. Think about it like this, tracking systems can take hours or days to run data refresh but...
