I have about 10k miles on some TSW rebuilt rears (went new in front but no new rears were available nationwide at the time). So far am happy with the TSW rebuilds, no issues and the rear is riding like it was right after install. 38 psi tire pressure all around, and I do like to keep 100 - 150...
OMG what a fantastic write up. Very interesting on the hard evasive braking, I always assumed it was "hits" that would take it out of alignment. Saving this...
+1 on tire pressure for sure. I did a bunch of tests varying the pressure by 2 lbs each time and finally settled on 38 psi as the sweet spot that I like. Absorbs a lot of the bounce
Well, it's actually an F350 on a highboy 4x4 frame and drivetrain - so, a 4x4 F350 dually with the factory stake bed (HEAVY), and to boot I had the original highboy's rear axle and leaf springs on there. The prior owner was figuring 9000+
I went with the Sport, looking for really good spread on the lights but didn't know if I needed the Pro. If i get the driving lights will probably go Pro :D. They are white beam with the amber markers which look like they were made for the Raptor. I'll post a picture or two.... I'm...
Installed the SAE fogs on my 2012 Raptor - love the light signature with the amber marker lights, and the fogs are superb. Great spread on the beam and no blinding other drivers. Highly recommend
Installed a pair of Diode Dynamics SAE fogs, and I have to say how impressed I am. Great beam pattern, terrific spread and doesn't annoy other drivers. The amber marker lights also look fantastic with the raptor light signature on the nose
LOL Yeah that was me too - maybe 2000 with it for a long time. I was surprised and impressed at how well it did. Kept a lot of the weight off the tongue, it did fantastic
So, the other day I trailered home an old 1969 F350... i thought that it would be about 8000 pounds but in the end with everything on the trailer it was probably closer to 10k. I know. Yeah. I was careful, and kept the speed reasonable. It was a gorilla wanting to get out of the cage, but if...
Premium really seems to make a difference. 2012 with 109k miles and I'm usually at 13-14, definitely 14 on trips. Now, I trailered about 10k pounds a few months back and got like 9...
One more thing to add: at that mileage, you may need to start looking after bushings and control arms. bought my SVT at 90k miles and I had to do a radiator and control arms to deal with some front end groaning :)
I’m considering adding airbags to my 2012 and am wondering if anyone else has experience.
I know that typically adding airbags doesn’t mean that you can should exceed gvwr, but hear me out:
The Raptor is overbuilt in almost every area (axles, brakes); the limiting factor seems to be the spring...
Update: new rear brakes, still have the issue. In addition, I have a vibration that hits at 50mph and goes away at 70, then re-emerges at higher speed.
Talked with a grizzled mechanic friend and he is suspecting ujoints or driveshaft balance. There is a little play at this slip joint /...
Anyone who has the NFab light bar - if you have pics from the SIDE view, would you post? Can’t seem to find good side shots.
I’m looking at the light mount tabs and find it odd that they are in front of, rather than behind the bar. For anyone who owns it, thoughts?
Oh and how bad was the...
I just installed a set of Diode Dynamics 3” sports in the front bumper openings, and am SUPER happy with them for a few reasons:
1: Lateral spread of the beam. I have them aimed outwards about 20 degrees and they illuminate almost 90 degrees laterally to the left and right. It’s a perfect...
