@StangGT5 Some truth in that for sure. Imagine how many more guys would buy their product if it were priced differently. We’ve had a couple guys just in this extremely short thread who’ve said cost is the deal killer. I run into raptor drivers on a regular basis who have echoed the same...
A bumper has no moving parts. If steel and /or aluminum is of sufficient thickness and quality, welds are good and appropriate hardware (bolts) are used how much R&D does it take? I am admittedly a hack welder but I’ve seen numerous very impressive bumpers fabbed for $500 including powder...
@Sig Fanboy - amen to that post. Three years is my attention span. I’ve had some wild rides but I’ve always had one pickup in the stable. I do genuinely like the raptor (despite some of its shortcomings) and I was nearing my attention span when I decided why not make some mods to reinvigorate my...
I said that right up until the point I knew I had caught the bug. I’ve added CAI, catback, wheels and Goosetune. All have been reasonably priced taking into consideration the market etc. I just can’t bring myself to do the bumpers. Not because I don’t want to. Not because I can’t afford it. I’m...
R&D. Not much R&D on a bumper. The available mounting points are what they are. Intercoolers and ADD’s can only be relocated to a couple places. The radius of a front clip is what it is. The concept of R&D as a significant contributing factor is better understood within the context of tech...
@DFS - I’m intimately aware of the additional costs of business ownership. Their product line as a whole pays for this. Why can I buy a bumper with more steel, more welds, more fabrication for anything other than a raptor for half the price? I really don’t want any of this to be a mud-slinging...
I’m sure I’ll receive lashing from everyone but here’s my rant. I’ve built bumpers from scratch (although two interstate moves later I no longer have the tools to do so). I’ve welded bumpers from the “weld-yourself” kits etc etc etc. I’ve bought bumpers for numerous trucks. Bumpers that contain...
I had the truck shut down (and never restarted) before the oil pressure light was fully illuminated. I recently lost a Powerstroke so I was insanely fast to react. No debris in oil. I looked at several areas of oil and saw nothing let alone metallic debris. The screens for the turbos were...
I’m going to steer the thread back to its origins. Dead Raptor with 35k miles. Shop finally tore into engine. Appears oil
Pump mount bolts broke. They said they’ve never seen it before. Broken Mount bolts were in the pan. I’d assume the broken mount bolts led to an oil starvation problem. Long...
Of course they have the old “we have to tear deeper into it next week” before we say we can’t rebuild it “but we know we can’t”. The LB arrived today however.
Posted this earlier but it disappeared. Dealership ordered an longblock from Ford. They will tear into engine early next week when more parts arrive but they tarted it and apparently it sounds terrible. They said they found quite a bit of metal in the engine. I’ll post more when I hear more...
I reviewed the car fax. It’s clean. Minnesota law requires a 2 month 2600 mile warranty for this vehicle (based on age). Factory warranty is covering the long block but I also have ESP. What dealership
We’re you dealing with?
Seems to me it started to die almost immediately before lighting. And by died I mean it was all but shut down and momentum kept the truck rolling forward for a second.
