I am having fiberwerx fenders installed on my gen3 at the moment. I also have add phantom bumpers. I am considering a variety of mid travel +3 kits right now and leaning toward rpg. Has anyone done a mid travel +3 kit on their gen 3 and if so what are your thoughts.
I still dont know the source of my clunk, but I do know it is not the cam bolts on the front shocks. Why do I know this? If you go back to my original diagnostic post on this thread, the dealer put electronic ears on all suspension parts and drove the truck. The front shocks, the from control...
Unfortunately it's not the shock. Although there are many people with noisy rear shocks including mine with were replaced...Its not the cause for the clunk that people are experiencing. It is unknown if this is fixed in the 2022 f-150s. This is not isolated to the Raptor alone. It is present...
Well this article just came out today and may be the problem.
https://www.yahoo.com/autos/2021-2022-ford-f-150-192500497.html
It says some f150's, about 184k of them, may have a sound isolation failure that will result in driveshaft failure. The indication that you may be one of these trucks...
Well I got both rear shocks replaced yesterday. The noise is certainly less but not gone. It still has a clunk and it still sounds like it’s coming from the front. They used electronic ears on all the suspension parts and nothing so it has to be driveline. I’m going to try to diagnose it myself...
I just got a call from my dealer too that my shock is in and its going in tomorrow. I think I was the first person to report the issue to Ford. At that time, they told me the part is on indefinite backorder and I should not expect it before Summer of 2022. Ford customer care also confirmed...
I started this thread. They isolated the sound to my rear shock with a listening device. They torqued all on the suspension components including the rear shock mounting points.drove it… same noise. They removed the right rear shock and drove it. No noise. Put it back on, noise came back. The...
So far no update on the back ordered shock. My dealership has a dedicated Raptor tech. He is 100% sure it’s the rear shock and that it is not normal. They want to replace it an will but they need the part which they can’t get.
Like i stated in an earlier post, it will likely be next summer if...
This is the right way to track it...
Mine was built 9/21 delivered 10/6/21. Its a 35" model. Rear shocks clunked day one with 4 miles on the ODO. Got worse over time now with 2,500 on the ODO.
Here are the facts:
1. The Raptor tech came out and diagnosed the rear shock as defective. It took two days of work but that was the outcome.
2. My dealer said that they don’t have an eta on the part as there are zero available in their system nationwide and to escalate to ford customer care...
You guys don’t know about the defective fox shocks and supply chain shortage associated with that. They don’t have any to fill the many defective Raptors they already made. If you get your truck anytime soon…jump up and down on the rear bumper before you take delivery. If you hear a knocking...
Good news is that the drive shaft play can easily be fixed by the dealer. The bad news is that when they fix it, if your shocks are bad, your still going to hear a clunk and it will sound like it’s coming from the front, even if it’s coming from the back. Sorry to hear you got a double whammy. I...
That was my argument to the Ford customer care person that is escalating for me. The reality is if fox is that far behind and is starting to learn that they provided defective parts, it may start to impact production or make Ford switch to another shock manufacturer. I also don’t think Ford is...
I would jump up and down on the rear bumper. If you hear a clunking or knocking sound from under the bed, you have a bad fox shock and it will take 18 months for them to replace it. Don’t take delivery unless you want to live with the most annoying sound in the cab while driving it until the...
Just got my 37”s on with leveling collar kit. Looks great and really feels no different braking, turning and accelerating. Just looks more badass. Still have the stupid rear fox shock clunking/knocking sound in the rear (sounds like it’s from the front).
Spare 37” tire fit fine just like...
Here is my update….
Fox is 18 months out from supplying parts to Ford for warranty repairs. Ford has escalated to Fox and the response has been you can’t get blood out of a stone.
So for those like me with a clunking sound coming from your rear shocks, we are screwed until spring/summer of...
So do you feel and hear it on acceleration? If you throw it in neutral while rolling does it make the noise? I’m going to check mine out later today and see if I also have that problem
Mine makes the same noise. Running, in Baja, but n sport, in normal, and with the car off. I think it’s in the mount but it’s hard to tell. Could be inside the shock.
That is the sound. Not sure why the dealer needed all that fancy listening equipment to diagnose it when a simple jumping up and down on the rear bumper makes it so obvious.
I can feel mine in the gas pedal as well....but I bet its the rear shocks. Go jump on the bumper and let us know if you think its something else other than the shocks. Fox must have a faulty part inside a big batch of shocks.
I was 99% certain mine was coming from the front too, but it’s not. Jump on the rear bumper. If you here a clunk sound under the bed, it’s your rear shocks.
