So, got the IWE's replaced, wheel hub assemblies, and transfer case fluid. Shop that did the work showed me the old IWE's and they were indeed broken. The green plastic internal piece on the driver side IWE was broken and they confirmed my findings that both IWE's would not disengage.
Stuck my...
Thank you for your insight and response!
Right. I never use or engage 4wd at highway speeds. Maybe I should have clarified that I slowed down to about 30mph when the noise started and engaged 4wd for the sole purposed of seeing if that would stop the noise and it did make it stop. Otherwise I...
Lets say it is partially engaged... Would that cause the other CV and transfer case driveshaft to spin as well? If it is engaged when its not supposed to be?
Should I be concerned with damage to the transfer case or frony diff?
Also I still cannot explain why Neither one if the IWE's will...
Interesting.... You don't happen to have paperwork for that service still, do you? I would be very curious about that.
I got around to thinking about whats going on with my truck and if both IWE's just happened to have failed in the same way where vacuum will not disengage them, I am...
Alrighty, so some interesting findings.
Decided to go for a drive with a camera mounted to the underside of the truck to see if I could capture what was going on. I was monitoring the live video feed on my hour plus drive and the entire time, both CV shafts were spinning at wheel speed as well...
I got a vacuum test kit and will test tomorrow but again this is such a violent noise and does not match up with my 2 previous IWE issues I have already had. Its like the hulk is underneath the truck punching the floorboard. and very intermittent. Will happen for a few seconds and not show up...
In my experience IWE grinding is annoying and audible but this feels like something is banging on the floorboard. I can feel it under my feet. I cannot emphasize enough that it is EXTREMELY VIOLENT.
I have been trying to diagnose an extremely loud grinding and banging noise for the past few weeks and I am at a loss. I am almost certain this is not an IWE issue as I have had both IWE's go out before and this is a VIOLENT noise and can be felt on my feet through the floorboard.
I first...
I usually do all my own work but I snapped my wrist in half a few months ago and had to have surgery. I havent qutte recovered fully yet and so I did not actually do the swap myself. I brought it to a shop and had them do it.
Its definitely louder than OEM.
OEM rack felt like it was on its...
Thanks! I have 2 more of the Rigid D series lights in amber that I haven't done anything with yet. Not sure where to mount them. Or maybe just sell em?
Been real busy the past few days getting some stuff done to the raptor! Heres a list:
- Evil MFG Hellion front and rear bumpers
- Baja Design Squadron Pro's mounted to the front bumper
- Upgraded to Sync 3 with Apple Carplay
- Rigid D series on the rear bumper
- Morimoto Headlights, and side...
Tried looking this up, but with all the remanufactured part numbers, Motocraft, etc it got a bit confusing.
I have a 2013 Raptor SuperCrew. Is this the correct part number I should be looking at for a new steering rack?
STG-703-RM
Thanks everyone!
I bought from someone in the "Ford Raptor Parts and Accessories For Sale" facebook group. I know Carlos Torres has a good reputation in there. I tried messaging him but I didn't hear back from him for a few days. By the time he messaged me back I had already bought a kit from Mitral Shah in the...
OOORRRRR..... Use a compressor hooked up to a smaller tank. Best of both worlds. I have my ARB twin mouted behinf the rear driver side seat. Need to find a suitable place to install a tank thats fairly hidden to do just that.
Bunch of stuff done to my 2013 yesterday!
- Morimoto XB headlights
- Morimoto Grill Marker lights
- Morimoto front and rear side marker lights
And the most important upgrade.... SYNC 2 to SYNC 3 swap. Man does all that stuff bring this truck into the 2020's. Apple Carplay is a must at this...
Lets say I dont take it any further than the stage 2 whipple package. Is there any difference in driveability/reliability/ power between using the smaller injectors and TB or going with the larger sets?
I was going to do oil pump gears regardless along with all belts, timing chain etc.
