Anecdotally, my experience is that there's a decent amount of leeway in the tune (I'm using Goosetune). I have accidentally overfilled to about E60 and did not grenade my motor. Mind you, I babied it for about 50 miles and continually topped up to slowly lower that ratio. I believe Winfield...
If you look at Gen 1 prices - they've mostly bottomed out around 30-40k for 10+ year old trucks. Gen 2 prices are getting near there so that tells me we're near the bottom of the depreciation curve.
No sense in trading in a reliable known quantity when you're not going to get good trade in...
I've previously replaced only 1 shock (rear) on my Gen 2. Didn't make a huge difference in ride quality or feel. You should be getting a shock rebuild after ~50k miles (or less) depending on your use case so your other shocks will 'catch up' in the future.
I keep seeing these pop up on Facebook. Seems glammy like the Tesla style screens. I'm not into it - I have enough screens in my life, give me analog gauges any day of the week.
I could see this as a good quality of life update for the 800a trucks but for the 802s it doesn't make much sense.
Damn I feel guilty about impulse buying a snickers in the check out line... This mans out here dropping 90k on an impulse! That kind of degeneracy completely belongs here, welcome fellow neanderthal!
(Saturday) Picked it up from the wrap shop - you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Did a satin wrap mostly for UV protection and to hide A LOT of trail rash.
(Today) Glam shots:
Baja mode reduces the sensitivity of the airbag deployment but does not fully disable it for obvious reasons. Plenty of videos of guys still getting them to deploy.
If you're seriously planning on jumping it far enough where you think airbags might deploy - I'd ask you: why?
Hey Winfield, I switched from an upgraded stock location IC (CVF) to a FMIC (SVC). Is there a need to update the tune or is it okay to use the same tune with the FMIC?
Yesterday - got it back from the shop. New SVC Baja frame cut bumper, SVC FMIC, and 4 LP6s. Also got a 454 Motorsports chase rack installed.
Never say never but I think the build is nearly done. Gonna figure out what other lights I want to do but other than that, it's how I always wanted it now.
As someone who just bought a $25 tube of lube (giggity) for my moonroof despite constantly cleaning it and using a silicone based lubricant every 2-3 washes, I can say I don't enjoy it as much as I thought I would and wish I had gone without.
Ceramic tinting it certainly helped with the heat...
That's the cam phaser. Make sure you go to the dealer and get under there and point to it and say "THAT'S THE CAM PHASER AND I WANT IT REPLACED!!!!".
Dealers will often fight you on this but you really gotta dig your heels in and demand satisfaction. Escalate it to Ford if you must. This is a...
Got the truck back from the shop today - more detailed thread coming later
All I can say right now after driving it for about 50 miles: WOW, absolutely night and day difference in handling and feel.
If you're in NorCal - I highly recommend Devil Mountain Diesel. Mark and Jason are top notch...
And since you'd be moving from a Gen 2 to Gen 3 - immediately ceramic coat it, PPF it, ceramic coat it again and then one more layer of PPF just to be sure
