    I had this prob, the reason why it keeps coming back .. at least that I have found is that the mating surface will flex and warp. Try putting a ruler or something up to it and see if yours is flexed.

    I changed out the Transfer case shift motor. It shifts without the wrench. However when I put it into 4L it feels like it goes into limp mode, and then after a while it will jerk pretty hard into 2nd gear. Kind of startles me a bit. What do you think is going on with 4L?

    Ok, so I got my alignment today. It is rock solid! I am very happy with it. It is also running a lot smoother than before. But, that noise is still there.
