Not kidding...my wheel isn't pulling sideways now. Its not stuck in 2wd either. I have no idea whats changed, but now it feels like how others have described as proper normal operation. I probably should try out 4H and 4L also...
Today it was raining so I decided to try 4A again and WTH this time it's not pulling sideways under acceleration. First time it has ever felt right. Now my curiosity is really piqued and I wanna find out whats happening here. The only thing I can think of thats changed is I had my truck in the...
Interesting development. I've recently had both turbos replaced, due to failure, along with cam phasers and water pump...and so far I have not been hearing the whining sound since those repairs. I'm still putting clues together but my thoughts at the moment are that I was hearing a turbo gone bad.
So I wanted to give it a few days to be sure, but since I've had the two turbos replaced I have not been hearing the "transmission whine" that had been present for the last couple years: https://www.fordraptorforum.com/threads/noticing-a-slight-transmission-whine-now.85907/
I think the first...
I want to add that my increase in volume is most noticeable at 2k rpm, cruising on the highway, around 75-80 mph. But although its louder i dont find it to be overly intrusive. It just engine sounds and nothing like a fart cannon or head buzzing drone.
I have the SPD trombone. No complaint here when pulling heavy loads out to the ranch 4.5 hours away. I hear the exhaust constantly but its never bothersome.
Tires, pressure, road surface, etc...I've messed with all of it. Still pulls sideways under throttle in 4A. I'm sure its not normal or more people would be complaining. Betting its something to do with the front diff since its only pulling under throttle.
No. Still the same. It pulls more than I think it should. Pretty much useless. I cant seem to find anything out on the internet; and I'm always too busy to deal with it.
Yes, the outer edges of the fins made contact with the housing thus bending them. I have pics but wont be able to post them until later. It doesnt look like any debris got in there but I want yall to see the pics when I post them and give feedback. The guy at the shop believes that the bearings...
My wife thinks I'm working the truck too hard but I've always dismissed it. I load it down regularly with ice chests, camping gear, and corn sacks and go out to the ranch about 4.5 hours away. I have a little 6x8 utility trailer that I've loaded down and pulled a few times. When I pull the...
I'm on the stock tune, and service my air filter once a year...which is about 15,000 miles. In between that interval, usually after hunting season when I've been hitting the ranch roads more often, I'll clean the filter by knocking the contaminates loose and then spray it with compressed air...
Dont really know. I do my own oil changes at 5k and faithfully monitor the level in between. One theory is that I lost one turbo a while back, without noticing, and the other turbo has been working overtime since. Another theory is that with those cam phasers banging around for the last 10...
Update: I got the turbo replaced along with the cam phasers and water pump etc...mechanic notices the truck still isn't running right. Closer inspection revealed that the other turbo is damaged too; specifically the turbo inlet fins are bent. FML
Well I got the quote to fix everything. They say the drivers side turbo needs replacement. Good sense returned to me and I put away thoughts about upgrading. Honestly there isnt much that can make me like the 3.5 Ecoboost, so I dont wanna keep dropping money on it. Gonna proceed with the stock...
I got a quote for cam phasers while my truck is in for something else; but I'm in a tight spot financially right now. They started rattling about a year ago; can I keep postponing this without fear of ruining something else? And if I decide to go ahead and get it done what is the latest part...
Yeah I'm backing off the mod bug now; getting scared of what the minimum repair bill is already going to be. I'm trying to get a business going and wouldn't want to jeopardize that. So here I'm waiting to see what their diagnosois will be. Crossing fingers hoping its a hose or tube that I didn't...
I left work the other day and noticed a loud whine sound coming from drivers side engine bay, under load, along with a loss of power and no boost showing on the gauge. I believe one of my turbos has died. No smoke and still runs fine under light throttle. Looking back last week I had used the...
