For the undercarriage, I used a wire brush on any rust/corrosion, then treated with Loctite extend, then painted with MRO, then hit everything with HDMP. I used a little CLR on the KHC exhaust, then hand polished it with Barkeeper’s Friend.

Yes Sir! 93” mid-travel, handles great on the street. I don't notice a big difference in turn radius.

My over all thought is that if I could do it again, I’d probably just have a shop do it. Things that slowed me down were: brake lines, hard-line relocation, leaking axle boots (have a long-travel shop build up your axles), and bed-bolts. It was fun and I learned a lot, but it was a major time...

And she’s done! Shop had to re-do part of the slot deletes to get her aligned. Paint is a backyard rattle can 2K DIY.

I'll just get another battery. Nothing a little Maui blue paint can't fix! I'll get the suspension cerekoted and rebuilt in a few seasons anyways.

This is about as good as I'll get these McNeil +2s after a backyard spray job.

I took it to a DIY car wash in the am. Maybe some soap that didn't get rinsed?!

Any idea what could have caused this? No visible brake fluid leaks. Truck was washed the day before I saw it.

Wire brush, loctite extend, then a couple of coats of MRO, then a thick coat of HDMP. Took a few days in between coats to let everything cure.

Well, I’m at my limit for DIY mid-travel. She’s at the local shop for secondary mounts and rear shock mounts. Overall it has been a really fun build.

Everybody likes to rip on the USAF until they’re in contact.

Pulled and polished exhaust and did a full rear corrosion control/refinish.

Not too bad. Maybe a couple of hours with a drill and a dremel.
