Help Please Bad Turbo 1500 miles from home

The pinion whine was starting before we bought the trailer... I thought it was tire hum at first until it started getting progressively worse.

Help Please Bad Turbo 1500 miles from home

An Update: We have arrived back home with no drama. The truck used a lot less oil on the return loop than it did going out. I attribute this to the Cobb tow tune and running in Sport instead of Tow/Haul. Next steps are getting the valve covers replaced and then addressing any other engine...

Got it. Now my next question: Other than keeping a close eye on the oil level is there any reason I cant finish the trip and get it fixed at home?

EGR was a mental glitch on my part… (Have edited the post to PCV) YOU HAVE MY FULL ATTENTION with the PCV comment!! My assumption was that an oiled up PCV valve would hint at a problem not a perfectly clean one! Dumb question: I’m 200KM away from the dealer and can’t get to them for at least...

Trouble Shooting so far: Pulled and checked all cold side plumbing. No issues there at all. Intercooler tubes had less oil than expected. Let the truck cool over night and then hit it again this morning. Pulled and checked the PCV valve. Clean, dry and functioning. (As good as the rattle test...

The truck does fall in the range for the TSB… Unfortunately the warranty aged out two years ago and miles out on this trip. I did pull the PCV and its was spotless.

Can’t be sure of this but here is the theory. I use have used a Jiffy Lube and the dealer for oil changes, alternating every 5K miles. They Jiffy guys like to pull the filter and show you how dirty its looks… The oiled area has a hard defined edge, the kind of edge you would get if you sat the...

From what I can see there is no engine connection on the dirty side of the air filter. Towing wise the trailer we are pulling is less than 6K#. That’s 2000 pounds under the max recommended size. It also is likely that the towing limit is a function of the springs on the Raptors and not any...

Thanks for the comments guys. The info is helping. Have not pulled any plugs yet but did focus on the “How is it performing” question. Just went out and did 5 0-60 runs using the Accessport timer. Best run was just over 10s ☹️ Didn’t notice oil smoke but the tail pipes look like a Cummins…...

Help Please Bad Turbo 1500 miles from home

Going to answer the above questions and add some info. No external leaks. Aged out of warranty. No noticeable loss of power but I drive slow with the trailer. There was minimal oil consumption prior to this trip. (Minimizes the probability of the valve cover thing) 4-5 quarts in 1500 miles...

“Long time listener first time caller” Have a 2019, bought new, 30K miles. 5K oil changes, I drive like I’m driving Miss Daisy. Purchased but not installed stage 2 system from Goosetune. Plugged the Cobb Accessport in and did their base tune a while back. About the same time noticed a slight...
